Weekly CHRISTIAN WARRIOR Training Challenge: Test the Spirits
This Week’s Scripture: 1 John 4:1 “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” One of the most important lessons for Christians dealing with supernatural or paranormal subjects is simple: Do not automatically believe the source. Something can appear spiritual, feel comforting, reveal unknown facts, and even sound biblical. That still doesn't make it divine. The command in Scripture is to try the spirits. That means Christians need to develop discernment instead of simply trusting an experience because it feels powerful, supernatural, comforting, or convincing. --Your Training Assignment-- Sometime this week, identify one spiritual claim, paranormal claim, teaching, video, experience, or message that you encounter. Then stop and examine it instead of immediately accepting or rejecting it. Ask yourself: 1. What is actually being claimed? 2. What evidence is being offered? 3. What does the Bible say about it? 4. Does it agree with Scripture or contradict Scripture? 5. Am I accepting it because it is biblical—or because it sounds exciting, comforting, mysterious, or convincing? Then pray and ask God for wisdom and discernment. Afterward, on Saturday, October 3, come back to the Against Spiritual Wickedness Headquarters and post a short response in the Training Challenge section telling us: What did you examine? What did you originally think about it? What did you find when you tested it through Scripture? Did your conclusion change? Why or why not? --Complete the Training — Get the Free Resource-- Everyone who completes this week's training and posts their response will receive my: “Testing the Spirits: Biblical Discernment Checklist” It's a simple one-page reference you can use whenever you're dealing with supernatural claims, paranormal experiences, questionable teachings, dreams, visions, spiritual messages, or anything else that needs to be examined through a biblical lens.

Stop Asking What the Ghost Wants
Ghost hunters frequently ask questions like: - “What does the spirit want?” - “Why is it still here?” - “Does it need help crossing over?” There's just one problem: those questions blindly accept the ghost story premise. They assume you are dealing with a dead human being trapped between worlds. Where does the Bible teach that? It doesn't. Scripture clearly describes spiritual beings and paranormal activity—it speaks of angels, devils, unclean spirits, familiar spirits, and lying spirits. But the Bible never gives Christians a ministry of helping human souls "cross over." So before trying to figure out what a ghost wants, ask the much more fundamental question: what exactly are we dealing with? Viewing paranormal investigation through the lens of Scripture turns the entire field upside down. Don't begin with secular folklore and force the Bible to fit it; start with the Bible and examine the phenomenon from there. Maybe there's a natural explanation. Maybe the story is exaggerated or the equipment is malfunctioning. But if an intelligent spiritual presence is involved, never automatically accept the identity it presents. Second Corinthians 11:14 warns that Satan himself transforms into an angel of light. Appearances deceive. Experiences deceive. Spirits deceive. Start with the right biblical premise before you try to interpret the evidence.

Why Would a Ghost Need Your Permission?
Here’s a question you don't hear ghost hunters ask very often: why do investigators constantly invite spirits to communicate? They walk into a location and say: - “If anybody is here, come forward.” - “Use my energy.” - “Touch this device.” - “Speak through this recorder.” Then, when the hunt is over, those same investigators talk about cleansing themselves, closing off their energy, or making sure nothing follows them home. Think about that. If you are opening yourself up to an unknown spiritual intelligence—and then scrambling to close the door afterward—what exactly did you let in? From a biblical standpoint, that should immediately raise red flags. Scripture never instructs Christians to invite unknown entities into conversation. It commands us to test the spirits. It warns against familiar spirits, divination, and spiritual wickedness. There is a massive difference between observing paranormal activity and actively inviting an unknown intelligence to interact with you. That is where investigation crosses the line—you stop merely observing the paranormal, and you start participating in it. Replacing a Ouija board with an electronic gadget doesn't change the underlying reality. The technology may be modern, but the spiritual practice is ancient.
