Some training shots from today’s pull day.
One thing I touched on in my session today with Alex was activating your lats in a row, assuming you’re doing that row to focus your lats. Normally I start my session with a bent over row, but lower back was achey so I opted for T-bar.
One of my biggest cues when I’m trying to target my lats in a row along with my upper back is internal rotation with my elbows. Trying to “bend the bar” with my hands. This activates your lats and keeps them engaged through the whole movement.
Another big thing I see often is people fully stretching their scapula as they get to the end of the stretch. You don’t need to do this, you’re releasing the tension on the muscle and likely causing an ache in your shoulder. Stretch as far as you can WHILE keeping your lats flexed and engaged.
