Launching my art business
Hi I’m Fini, I draw dancers (among other things) 🙃
Throughout my 20s I've been through a number of careers, as account manager, language specialist, copywriter, and lately in the NGO field focusing on corporate accountability. After roughly 10 years of adulthood and a fair amount of burnout, I’ve decided it was time to do something for myself.
I’ve been drawing at dance events for several years now, making portraits of the dancers in the moment – which oh so happens to please my novelty-driven brain, and also sell quite well. It turns out not many people work as quickly as I do so I’m exploring this niche.
Now I’m taking this year off to launch my art business properly and see how far I can take it. Doing what I love most at events is great but won’t scale, so I’m looking into options to generate income streams centred on my art without being reduced to it.
These days I’m preparing an open call based on references provided by my queer community; prepping a month-long exhibition in my beloved university town; booking in more events; and when I’m not fuelled by deadline-stress, setting up my website and online print shop and ramping up my social media presence.
Excited to be here and looking forward to exchange with y’all! Oh also I’m based in Berlin, Germany, so if there are any other Europeans around let me know :)
