Hi everyone,
I'm excited to invite you to our upcoming Trauma sensitive yoga class in which we will focus on Assertiveness: Basic Interpersonal Effectiveness Skills.
This session is designed to equip you with fundamental tools to build and maintain healthier, more fulfilling relationships in all areas of your life – with family, friends, colleagues, and partners.
What We'll Cover:
In this lecture, we'll dive into key concepts that underpin effective communication and interaction:
Mindful Attention in Relationships: Learn how to be truly present and observant in your interactions, picking up on crucial cues and preventing misunderstandings.
Passive vs. Aggressive Behavior: Understand the long-term pitfalls of these common styles and why neither truly serves your relationships.
Balancing Your Needs with Others': We'll explore the "I Want - They Want" and "I Want - I Should" ratios, helping you navigate the delicate balance between your desires and perceived obligations.
Introduction to Key Interpersonal Skills: Get an overview of the core assertive skills, including knowing what you want, asking for it effectively, and starting to negotiate conflicts.
Identifying Blocks to Effectiveness: We'll discuss common obstacles like old habits, overwhelming emotions, fear, and unhelpful myths, providing strategies to overcome them.
Why This Matters:
Relationships are invaluable, but they require effort and skill to thrive. Learning assertiveness isn't about being demanding; it's about confidently and respectfully asking for what you need, setting boundaries, and navigating disagreements in a way that strengthens your connections rather than damaging them.
Come prepared to reflect and engage! You might find it helpful to bring a pen and paper for some brief self-reflection exercises during the session.
I look forward to seeing you there and beginning this important journey toward more effective and satisfying relationships! 💙
