🚨 Instagram is going long form, and it looks like it was built for podcasters
Okay, I recorded an emergency episode about this, but here’s the quick version for you. Instagram is testing a new feature called Features. Think of it as IGTV 2.0: landscape videos up to 90 minutes, linked to your reels. That means you can post a clip, and people can tap straight through to your full episode without ever leaving the app. No second app, no new login. This is exactly what I was dreaming about at PodFest last year, so yes, I’m a little smug about it. 😅 It’s still a test. From what I’ve researched, it started in Brazil and is now reaching creators in the US. I don’t have access yet either, and I have been refreshing my app like a crazy person. Here’s how to get ready now: 1️⃣ Keep clipping, and get organized. Make a folder for each episode’s clips. Podcasting is evergreen, so when Features hits, you can upload old episodes with their old clips and give them a second life. 2️⃣ Make more clips. If you’re posting one or two reels a week, bump it up. I think this is going to be a numbers game. Quality still counts, so keep the strong hooks, captions, and editing. 3️⃣ Start recording video. If you’re audio only, now is the time. Prop up your phone and hit record. Your phone camera is plenty to start, and I’m still wearing sweatpants, so no one has to know. Your turn: Which of those three is the hardest for you right now? Drop it in the comments and I’ll help you figure it out. And if you get access to Features before I do, tag me. I want to see it!
Heads up: Facebook might be limiting your links
If your clip strategy is “post a video on Facebook, drop the episode link in the comments,” listen up. Meta is testing a limit on some Facebook Pages: 2 link posts or comments per month unless you pay for a Meta One subscription. And yes, a link in the comments counts. That old workaround is on the chopping block. Meta says it doesn’t apply to every Page yet, so it may not have hit you. But it’s rolling out, so I’d rather you hear it from me now than find out mid-launch. What I’d do about it: ✅ Save your 2 free links for the big stuff, like a launch, a big guest, or an offer ✅ Put the call to action in the clip itself (“search my shttps://rss.com/podcasts/the-podcast-lady/3255674how in your podcast app”) ✅ Send people to something you own, like your email list, instead of renting traffic from Facebook And honestly? Link posts were already getting buried. Only about 1.3% of what people see on Facebook includes an outside link. Clips are still worth posting. They’re just brand awareness now, not a click machine. New podcast episode about this is out Thursday morning. Have you noticed this on your own pages?

International Podcast Day - September 30th
Today is International Podcast Day! International Podcast Day is September 30th and is an international celebration of the power of podcasts. The celebration is a great opportunity to connect with fellow podcasters, podcast listeners, podcast enthusiasts, and leaders in the podcasting industry. In honor of it, drop in the comments a show you have been loving lately, and why you tune in!
"What’s the best way to promote the podcast on social?"
This was a text I got from a client this month. This client has been podcasting for about 6 months now, and her show is really deep. It's inspirational, real, raw, and full of golden nuggets of life advice. But it's currently not getting any promotion on social media which translates into lower listenership than the show deserves. My advice was to just start sharing it in any way they can -- a link, a reel, a static graphic of the cover art. Do something. A huge hurdle we have as humans is that we are scared to come across as "self promoting" or "bragging" but we worked so hard on these great podcasts, we SHOULD be bragging about them and sharing them on the internet. So that is my challenge for you this week. Share your show somewhere you hang out online. It deserves to be heard. DO SOMETHING! :)
