Attitude Indicator (Artificial Horizon)
The attitude indicator is placed directly in front of you for a reason: it is your primary flight instrument.
Whenever you make a change to the aircraft's attitude, your eyes should be on the attitude indicator. All the other instruments are secondary, they simply provide feedback about the aircraft's attitude and energy state.
So, first decide what you want to change: your pitch, bank angle, climb, descent, or turn. Then keep your eyes on the attitude indicator while making the control input.
That's how you stay in control during IFR operation!
