Japanese Walking
Hi ladies, hope your weekend went well? In the UK, we've had so much rain 🌦️☂️ Fed up with it! So, I signed up for a course at the beginning of January to help me work on growing my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@NourishFitMove I'm in a small cohort and boy it's the best thing I've ever signed up for regarding my business. I'm getting one on one help too in some cases and last week I put a 'Japanese Walking' 12 minute video live and it's now had over 500 views and I've gained a number of subscribers too. If you'd like to take a look at my channel, please take the link above and watch some of my videos. All I ask is that to keep the YouTube algorithm happy, please don't watch a video for a few seconds and then leave as it really mucks it up!! And if you like what you see, please subscribe. Oh, and tell your over 50 females friends about it too! I've done some more research into Japanese walking this afternoon. It's also known as Interval Walking Training (IWT) and I'm also going to be putting a blog live on my website too, potentially tomorrow. https://www.nourishfitmove.com Then later this week I'm going to post a poll here asking for your ideas on a 14 or 28 day challenge we can all do! Any ideas you have already, please do post in the comments. Anyway, that's it, I'm going to have dinner shortly. I've made a bechamel sauce and added lots onions, peppers, courgettes (zuchini), mushrooms and spinach, plus some bacon lardons and cheese and just about to cook some pasta to go with it. My partner runs a building maintenance company and he was called out to an emergency around 4pm and he's still not back, and I'm starving 😕🥺 Have a great day/evening xx

Quick question about your breakfast ☕
Quick question…What did you eat for breakfast this morning? If it was toast, cereal, or a bagel… I need to tell you something. Those “healthy” breakfasts might be one of the reasons weight loss feels harder than it used to. Here’s the thing: after 50, your body processes carbs differently than it did in your 30s or 40s. When you start the day with a carb-heavy breakfast, blood sugar rises quickly, insulin follows, and the body is far more likely to switch into fat-storage mode. Not exactly what you want first thing in the morning, right? Common breakfast mistakes after 50: ❌ Toast with jam (carb overload, very little protein) ❌ Cereal or granola with milk (a sugar spike waiting to happen) ❌ Bagel with cream cheese (processed carbs, no staying power) Try one of these instead: ✔️ Eggs on sourdough toast ✔️ Full-fat Greek yoghurt with a small handful of nuts Why this matters after 50As oestrogen drops during menopause, the body becomes more insulin-resistant. This means carb-heavy meals can cause bigger blood sugar swings, leading to stronger cravings and easier fat storage — especially around the belly. When you start your day with protein and healthy fats, you:• stabilise blood sugar• reduce cravings• preserve muscle mass• keep your metabolism ticking over One simple breakfast swap can change how your entire day feels. Pick one of these options — or any protein-rich breakfast — this week and notice the difference: No mid-morning crash No frantic snack hunting. Just steady energy. And while breakfast swaps are a great place to start… they’re just the tip of the iceberg. More to come....

Malted bread with butter and local honey or fruit and fibre cereal with skimmed milk guess I’m not having the right breakfast. Will give recommendations a try.
A very English winter day here today🌧️
Cold, grey, and one of those mornings where you wake up feeling slightly like a cold might be lurking… so I made a sensible decision and cancelled a planned 7-mile hike. Old me might have pushed on regardless — current me knows better 😉 Mike and I still took the dog out, but just for a gentle mile. Fresh air, slow pace, no pressure — and honestly, it’s helped far more than forcing anything would have. It felt like a good reminder that movement doesn’t have to be big or impressive to be supportive. Sometimes the right choice is less, not more. And a warm welcome to our newest member, Tina, who’s just joined — lovely to have you here 💛 Make yourself at home. Question for you: On days like this, do you tend to push through… or are you learning to listen to your body and adjust? No right or wrong — just curious.

as you say Jackie it is better to listen to your body, you take care of yourself, you have been through a lot.

I am loving the 10 min belly fat workout trying to do it everyday before work as not flexible enough first thing on a morning.
