Would You Rather… But Make It Real
This week’s topic is about choices, preferences, and personality. Sometimes “Would you rather…?” questions are silly, but they can also reveal how people think, what they value, and what kind of lifestyle they want. Your Speaking Task Post an audio in the comments answering 3–5 of these questions: 1. Would you rather be very rich but extremely busy, or earn less but have more free time? 2. Would you rather speak perfect English with a strong accent, or speak average English with a very natural accent? 3. Would you rather live in your dream city alone, or live in a boring city with your favorite people? 4. Would you rather know the truth and feel uncomfortable, or believe a lie and feel happy? 5. Would you rather have a job you love with low pay, or a boring job with high pay? 6. Would you rather lose social media forever, or lose coffee forever? 7. Would you rather be famous for something embarrassing, or completely unknown but respected by a small group? 8. Would you rather always say exactly what you think, or never be able to explain yourself clearly? Goal Speak for 1–3 minutes.Explain your choice and give at least one reason and one example. Useful Structure Use this structure to organize your answer: 1. Choose: “I would rather _____ than _____.” 2. Explain why: “The main reason is that _____.” 3. Give an example: “For example, _____.” 4. Add contrast: “On the other hand, _____.” 5. Finish clearly: “So for me, the better option is _____ because _____.” Example Answer “I would rather earn less money but have more free time. The main reason is that time gives you freedom. For example, if I have free time, I can spend more moments with my family, exercise, study, or travel. On the other hand, being rich but extremely busy sounds stressful. Money is important, but if I don’t have time to enjoy my life, it’s not worth it. So for me, the better option is more free time because I value peace and flexibility.” Vocabulary 1. Freedom Definition: The ability to choose what you want to do.
