From Junior to Senior in 2026 — Your Step-By-Step Plan
Hey everyone 👋 I’ve just released the updated 2026 Junior-to-Senior Developer Roadmap — a complete guide that shows you exactly what skills to learn (and in what order) to grow from junior to senior engineer. This is the same roadmap I use when training engineering teams, and now you can use it to level up your career in 2026. Why this roadmap matters in 2026 The tech landscape is evolving fast: AI tools, distributed systems, cloud-native development, and modern API standards are now expected skills — not “nice to haves.” This roadmap breaks everything down into clear, achievable steps so you always know what to learn next, including: ✔ Programming Languages Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, Go — and how to choose the right one. ✔ Web & API Development REST, gRPC, security, encryption, real-world protocols. ✔ Databases Relational, NoSQL, caching, search engines, indexing. ✔ Cloud & DevOps AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, testing. ✔ System Design (the real senior jump) Microservices, messaging systems, sharding, distributed systems, load balancing, and more. ✔ AI Tools for Developers ChatGPT, Claude, prompt engineering, automation — the skillset every developer will need in 2026. Whether you're starting out, leveling up, or preparing for a senior role — this roadmap will guide your next steps. Drop a comment if you’d like me to create: - A learning plan for each section - A video breakdown of the roadmap - A challenge to complete the roadmap in 12 weeks Let’s make 2026 your biggest leap yet. 🚀

One Thing!! Let us know!
Dear Amigos and Amigas! If there's one thing that puts you off learning or improving your skills in web, application or mobile development, it's... What would it be? Share it in the comments! :D If you can solve a problem that's been mentioned in a comment, please tell us how you did it. 💡

@Enoch Sylvanus We were thrilled to have you participate in the live coding, however, it has been canceled. Once a fix date has been determined, we will keep you informed. ;)

Dear Amigos and Amigas! I was 20 years old when I started for the first time learning java code at the university and could for the first time build a desktop software using JavaFX and later my first web application using JEE and Prime faces - I didn't know Spring at that time -. And I said, well I made it, I learned how to code. Here is the hard truth I wish I knew: I DIDN'T LEARN CODING YET! Well, you could technically build a website, a web application, a desktop software. However, if you are missing the fundamentals! You still know nothing about programming. Fundamentals could be: What is the idea behind functions? Behind variables? What is actually a framework? Why using a framework? What are the SOLID Principles? What are the Design Patterns? Why using those Patterns? Why I should learn Linux? Why I should learn Network? Asking such questions are fundamentals to keep growing! And regardless how quickly are the technologies including AI are developing. The fundamentals are and will always be the same. I believe this is your chance to learn the fundamentals, the very basics through the videos of Amigoscode and asking not only technical but also fundamental questions. A JUNIOR WITH FUNDAMENTALS IS BETTER THAN A SENIOR WITH ONLY TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE HAPPY LEARNING AND CODING!

@Franco Polizzi In Germany, certificates are still playing a significant role. Even though, I recently have seen some positions which require either a university degree or at least 2-3 years job experience. I think, if you show them that you already worked as a freelancer for 2 years, that counts - in my opinion - as a job experience too.
