Just finished this one โ€” sharing for anyone who wants to see what a fully formatted non-fiction book looks like before it hits Amazon KDP.
Here's another completed project โ€” this one is a self-help psychology book. Sharing so you can see what professional interior formatting looks like for non-fiction. ๐Ÿ“š Kill Who You Were by Levi Thornehart Amazon KDP | Print PDF + Kindle EPUB What was formatted: โ†’ Title page โ€” bold, minimal, publisher quality โ†’ Copyright โ€” fully compliant โ†’ Table of contents โ€” clean hierarchy with dot leaders โ†’ Introduction โ€” powerful hook typography โ†’ Part openers โ€” dramatic full-panel design with oversized chapter numbers โ†’ Chapter spreads โ€” drop caps, justified columns, consistent leading throughout The design matched the book's tone โ€” bold, psychological, no fluff. Both print PDF and EPUB delivered. Passed KDP first upload. โœ… --- Something I noticed working on both these projects back to back: Fiction and non-fiction need completely different interior design approaches. Fiction = subtle, traditional, immersive Non-fiction = bold, structured, scannable Most formatting mistakes happen when people treat them the same way. Drop any questions below ๐Ÿ‘‡

Nice. Thanks for sharing, gives a great comparison point ๐Ÿ‘
Where do you place other possibly relevant books for the reader?
I was thinking after the Author's Note, as it feels this could fit in there, but I was wondering if there's something like "best practices"?

@Laura Diaz Funny, I was precisely on that just a few hours ago as I am reworking & improving my books' interior ๐Ÿ˜ So I opted to put that at the very end, basically those are my last 2 pages of a book : About the Author, Also available on Amazon, Review. PS : tx @Igor O for the section about Affinity in the Classroom, that is another level of formatting versus PPT and Reedsy which used before๐Ÿ˜‚

@Laura Diaz hum, hard to say... I think I prefer not to count the hours ๐Ÿ˜‚ probably +20 hours (255 pages), it's a full redesign actually, not just the formatting. And I had to learn how to use Affinity, now I am becoming faster. PS : it all started from the call we had like 6 weeks ago or so, the one which was like 2 hours long, when @Igor O showed us NotebookLM (at least to me it was new, so I started to play with it and I ended up redesigning all my books !)
The New King of Image Generation
Just a quick update: we have a new leader for image generation - GPT Image 2 (ChatGPT). It's not a small improvement but a huge leap forward. Have you tested it already?

yes, finally it's really good, no longer that shitty "grain" effect that I systematically had after a few iterations ! Attached a banner for my A+ content, before I had to use Leonardo / banana Pro to get that level.
My Thoughts after the London Mastermind
It took me a week to pull myself away from working on my books after a wellspring of insights at the London Mastermind. It seems that YouTube and communities are becoming less and less relevant as sources of information in a world where LLMs commodify knowledge. At the same time, for building mutually beneficial tools and finding new ideas, communities become more important than ever. It's the way the Guild will be developed - the place to make our publishing experience delightful. Together. Let me tell you about the major updates in the Guild: ๐Ÿ’ฅ All resources temporarily become free for everyone, regardless of tier. Till the end of Q3. Why? Because the only way to create the best tools is to collect as much feedback as humanly possible. The wishes shared by @Yannick Di Mondo and @Sven Georgiev led to changes in the Guided Publishing System, prompting me to create books I would not have created without the system. I want to empower this feedback loop by making the tools available to everybody. ๐Ÿ’ฒ What is the reason to keep the Premium tier if everything becomes free for a few months? In the short term, there are no visible reasons other than the willingness to show your support (and I cannot find the right words to express my appreciation to all of you who support my actions). In the long term, if you keep your $10/month subscription, it will pay off in half a year and then become profitable. Anyway, I hugely appreciate all of the Premium members' support. ๐Ÿ’ป Fridays at 15:00 UTC online meetings are open to everyone. This Friday, I will share my ideas after the London Mastermind. It will be: 7:00 (PST) in Los Angeles 8:00 (MST) in Denver 10:00 (EST) in New York 16:00 (CET) in Berlin 23:00 in Singapore Any thoughts? Wishes? Ideas?

REAL RESULTS โ€” After Sharing My Formatting Mistakes ๐Ÿ‘‡
A few posts ago I shared the mistakes I was making with book formatting. A lot of you asked to see what the final result actually looks like. Here it is. This is the complete interior of Gold Fever! โ€” a 540-page western fiction novel I just finished formatting for Amazon KDP. Here's what was fixed and done right: โŒ MISTAKE: Using Enter key for spacing โœ… FIX: Space Before/After in paragraph styles โŒ MISTAKE: Drop caps on chapter openers โœ… FIX: Small caps first sentence โ€” cleaner, more professional โŒ MISTAKE: Indenting the first paragraph โœ… FIX: No indent after any heading โ€” traditional publishing rule โŒ MISTAKE: Inconsistent font sizes between styles โœ… FIX: Every style matched to exact pt size and leading โŒ MISTAKE: Manual formatting line by line โœ… FIX: Paragraph styles โ€” change once, updates everywhere The pages you see in this post are the result of getting every one of those details right. If you're formatting your own book โ€” save this post. If you want it done for you โ€” DM me. Drop your questions below ๐Ÿ‘‡ Happy to help.
