💗Share Your Experience with the I Ching Divination Foundations Course
Hi everyone, If you have found the I Ching Divination Foundations Course helpful, I would be very grateful if you shared a few words about your learning experience below. You might mention: • Your background before joining the course • Which lesson, case, or resource has been most useful • What part of I Ching divination has become clearer • Who you think would benefit from this course You do not need to answer every question. A few specific sentences about what you found valuable would be greatly appreciated. Your experience helps future students understand what the course actually offers and supports our work in systematically bringing traditional Chinese I Ching divination to international learners. As our student community grows to a sustainable size, I will also consider reinvesting in additional learning support, including a trained teaching assistant who can help with course-related technical questions and support students as they work through the curriculum. This thread is specifically for sharing learning experiences. Course questions and case discussions can continue in their appropriate discussion areas. Thank you for learning with us and helping this community grow! 😄

Thank you, Rense, for such a thoughtful and detailed response. I’m also glad that Lesson 7 helped bring the BaZi-related structures and the Yi together more clearly for you. Your point about the number of platforms is very helpful. At present, Skool is primarily used for structured course delivery, while Discord is intended for conversation and community discussion, where members can exchange ideas more freely. The website provides tools and reference charts, and Substack is where we publish case studies and articles, so there is no need to duplicate the same discussions across Skool and Discord. In the future, as our platform develops, we will consider bringing these functions together in a single app or website to create a more unified experience. Thank you for raising this—it is very useful feedback for us.
Lesson 7 | Compatibles, Clashes, and Special Structures is now available in the Classroom!
Hi everyone, Lesson 7 | Compatibles, Clashes, and Special Structures is now available in the Classroom! In this lesson, we examine Six Compatibles and Six Clashes at both the individual-branch and whole-hexagram levels. Through several classical cases, we will see why compatible is not automatically favorable and clash is not automatically unfavorable. Their meanings must be judged according to the Question, the Significator, and the actual generation and overcoming relationships. We will also introduce the Twelve Stages of Life, focusing on Birth, Peak, Tomb, and Extinction. Additional topics include clash opening tomb, Trine Compatibility, central branches, incomplete trines awaiting a future month or day, Three Punishments, and the conditions under which a daily clash creates covert movement. For this lesson’s discussion assignment, analyze the dispute between two villages using the inner and outer trigrams, Trine Compatibility, central branches, Five Elements, and Six Clashes. Decide which side appears to hold the advantage, whether the conflict will continue or be dispersed, and whether Host and Corresponding Lines should be the primary basis of judgment. In the next lesson, we will add strength, the Monthly Command, and the Daily Command to determine whether these structures can actually exert their effects. Lesson 6 | Movement, Transformation, and Hidden Information is now available in the Classroom!
Hi everyone, Lesson 6 | Movement, Transformation, and Hidden Information is now available in the Classroom! In this lesson, we move from identifying what each line represents to understanding how the lines actually exert their effects within a hexagram. We first return to the side-business case from Lesson 5 and trace its complete action chain. You will learn how active lines, static lines, and transformed lines function differently, including the essential rule that a transformed line acts back only upon the active line that produced it. We will then examine Return Generation, Return Overcoming, Advancing, and Retreating through practical cases. We will also introduce Repetitive Echo, Contradictory Echo, Wandering Soul and Returning Soul Hexagrams, Flying and Hidden Lines, absent and multiple Significators, and the basic judgment framework for a static hexagram. For this lesson’s discussion assignment, analyze the “Trading in a Military Camp” case using the Five Elements and the movement permissions introduced in this lesson. For now, set aside the Monthly Branch, Daily Branch, void, Six Clashes, and timing. Decide whether the querent should proceed and post your analysis in the Discord Members discussion area. In the next lesson, we will move into Six Compatibles, Six Clashes, and other special structures. Watch Lesson 6 here: https://www.skool.com/i-ching-divination-group-9696/classroom

Lesson 5 | From the Question to the Significator is now available in the Classroom!
Hi everyone, Lesson 5 | From the Question to the Significator is now available in the Classroom! In this lesson, we move from constructing the chart to identifying the roles within it. You will learn how to derive the Six Relationships from the Five Elements, understand what each relationship may represent, and determine the Six Relationships of transformed lines using the Palace Element of the Primary Hexagram. We will then examine how the question determines the Significator and how to identify the Source God, Obstacle God, and Adversary God. You will also learn to distinguish the Host and Corresponding Lines and use basic line positions to understand perspective, distance, hierarchy, and stages of development. Through a real business case and a complete side-business casting, we will see how these roles and positions begin to enter practical analysis. For this lesson’s practice, identify the Significator for five different questions, complete one personal casting and basic chart, and mark the Host, Corresponding, Significator, Source God, Obstacle God, and Adversary God. You can also attempt an initial analysis of the side-business case. A complete conclusion and timing prediction are not required yet. In the next lesson, we will formally enter active and transformed lines, Return Generation and Overcoming, Advancing and Retreating transformations, and the Flying and Hidden Gods. Lesson 4 | Casting and Building a Na Jia Chart is now available in the Classroom!
Hi everyone, Lesson 4 | Casting and Building a Na Jia Chart is now available in the Classroom! In this lesson, we formally enter Na Jia / Six Lines Divination. You will learn how to frame a specific question, record the casting time and time zone, cast three coins six times, and arrange the results from the first line at the bottom to the sixth line at the top. We will then examine how to form the Primary Hexagram, identify active lines, generate the Transformed Hexagram, and build a complete Na Jia chart. This includes the Eight Palaces, Heavenly Stems, Earthly Branches, Five Elements, Six Relationships, Host and Corresponding Lines, Six Gods, Monthly and Daily Commands, and Void. A complete casting and chart comparison demonstration and a Simple Divination Case Study Template are also available in the course Resources. For this lesson’s practice, complete three to five independent castings and compare your records with the charts generated by the I Ching Stream tool. Interpretation is not required yet—the focus is accurate casting, recording, and chart formation. In the next lesson, we will learn how to identify the roles within the chart and select the Significator according to the question.
