Intro
Hi everyone. Im Rachel and whilst I have my own community here on Skool, that I've just started on a completely different subject to my love of horses, I was drawn to this community as I see confidence as a huge part of the wellbeing in both riders and their horses. I do have a background in Equine Behaviour, and used to have my own yard where I started youngsters, and rehabilitated 'problem horses'. I lectured at the local Agricultural college on Equine Behaviour and I used to run Horse Whispering weekends and clinics. I am here if anyone has any questions on their horses behaviour, or I may be able to offer a perspective from the horses point of view. Happy Riding 😀

Day 5; The Spotlight Illusion
New here and want to start or find out more about this mini challenge? Feeling judged is often bigger in our mind than reality. Most people are focused on their own riding, not scrutinising yours. Action; When fear of judgement shows up, remind yourself; “This feels big inside. It does not mean it is big outside.” Notice a moment of self-consciousness and apply this reality check. Reflection Prompts: - When did I feel overly visible today? - How did reminding myself most people aren’t watching affect my mindset? - How did my riding feel after this reminder? - One moment where I can practise the spotlight illusion is…

@Janet Wilson and in all of life! So many things that horses teach us aren’t t about horses or riding at all…..

Lets find out a little about you... But before we do, I have a little request, before doing so, please make sure to read some of the introductions of other members and start engaging with one another! (To be notified of new introductions, make sure to click the 🔔!) Got a horse? Tell us a bit about your horse, share with us what you love about him/her? Share the last horsy pic you took on your phone (just attach it using the paperclip)

@Gemma Coles if you ride English you can ride western. Correct western riders position looks identical to a dressage rider. There are some cool you tube videos about that. It’s the western movies and backyard folks who ride incorrectly that make it look different. There’s only one way to be balanced in a horse-over his center of gravity with our legs under us as in a horse stance. 🤔😀

My western riding friends hate me sometimes.
Collective behavior and why it matters
I just read this. I love it! Completely agree, and, I live right outside of DC. Let me just say awful that time was! I didn’t know there was a name for it. Thank you for explaining so well!

@Janet Wilson absolutely! I was explaining this to someone who did t understand. I used Santa Claus as an example. When you’re a little kid you totally believe in Santa. I actually heard reindeer feet on my roof! lol. Our mind will often trick us like that. Maybe trick isn’t the correct word. Somehow it manifests. Then we learn that wasn’t true at all. No Santa. We believed. But it wasn’t true. A lot of beliefs are handed down in families for generations.
