New Course Module: The Art of Lighting 🌿
Cinema sets spend massive efforts recreating natural light in the nights, they need it since their production depends on many people. Yet, we keep it real with our main philosophy of working without fancy equipment. Working with small crews gives this the flexibility to use natural light and small gear. Even if you don't have ANY lights or budget for simple LEDs, this course is for you. Summary of the Module: Why we Care about Lightning? It helps to yet the tone, color scope and make Skin Tones and Objects Look natural. πŸŒžπŸ’ Light touches our bodies, minds, and souls. ⚑ We love the warmth of the morning sun, but sometimes, bright yellow lightning can scare us. πŸŒŒπŸ–• Colors aren't always what they seem – blue can be the calm sky or the cold touch of death. πŸ”₯✨ We can’t fully control light, but we can play with it. Understanding light and its colors helps us tell powerful stories, even with a small budget. πŸŽ₯πŸ’‘ 🌟 Filmmaking is about shaping time and space with light.πŸ›‹οΈπŸ“Έ Set design is about carefully placing things in a scene to create the right mood and atmosphere. What's the secret sauce? PRACTICE ✨
Found this comic on my laptop and thought you would love it! What does it look like in action? - Focusing on small improvements DAILY > going from 0 - 100 overnight. - Taking daily SMALL baby steps, even if you "don't feel like" - Just take 10 Minutes a day scribbling your idea on a piece of paper, instead of doom scrolling. Have a great start into the new week, guys!

Super excited to be here as a founding member! πŸ“½ I've loved film for as long as I can remember. Still have the family super8 somewhere in storage! While I didn't go to grad school the plan had been a multidisciplinary writing, dance, film program at Santa Cruz. πŸ“Έ In the mid 80s I started college as a photo major, drifted into dance and lighting design/production, began creating video πŸ“Ή started an arts collective (performance & publication called In Progress) 🧎 Many of my friends were studying film so I gained a lot of learning and enjoyed deeply eclectic viewing explorations. Next decade, one of my friends in NY made a film and went to Canne. I didn't get to go though I was a part of the process from inception. 🀷 Trivia: On the performance side, I was very nearly cast for the lead in the movie Boys Don't Cry. They needed Hollywood funding aka big name = Hillary Swank πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» Currently I am looking forward to growing my Skool community MRR so that I can delegate business operations by growing a small team so that I may return focus to arts and creating. This maker/manager split focus is not for me... I long to be free! For years I've felt a return to photography & film in my near future... now I'm here! Looking forward to learning and growing with you! πŸ’₯πŸ€©πŸš€ PS- i love skool

@Jonas Marcel as a dance major then active in NYC downtown dance and performance art scene of the 90s (partying with people i studied in Dance History 😜) yes, I am familiar with Yvonne's work. Thanks for sharing that 🧎 My life has been like a film FESTIVAL so far! The arts collective was back at university 1990-2 ?? πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» We're going to have a very inspiring connection conversation when we hop on a call. Between you and Sawyer getting your β›΅ Odyssey experience my personal pandoras box of photo/film/arts memory/experience has reopened flooding me with stories... and ideas! 🀩

@Jonas Marcel I do plan to grow through YouTube/IG/Skool synergy. Right now creativity and capacity is strangled by struggle to survive. Thus, the new year = from survive to THRIVE in 2025 πŸ’₯πŸ€©πŸš€
