Here's a screenshot of an expert guest on Sky News recently. I learned the hard way myself that having a distracting background can cause your viewers to be more focussed on what's behind you (e.g. slightly disorganised book cases), rather than what you are talking about. In my case, it was an interview via zoom call for a role as a Sales Director for a Silicon Valley IT company. They asked why I was studying a coding course. I was baffled, but then realised that it was my son's book on my bookcase behind me! NB. I did get the job! Bottom line: Try not to have a distracting background that diverts the views attention...
