Review of Career Mentorship with Marisa Tranchitella
Late last year, I saw the post about career mentorship. Me, being a recent achiever of the CISSP but also enjoying a "down" year for the industry, felt that I needed some guidance on navigating the job market. Well, I'm here to say that Marisa's service is great for someone starting out in the industry. I found her resume and cover letter review to be excellent for polishing and refining what I already had. She made sure my resume had wording and formatting that is ATS friendly. Aside from that, she provided several good resources that would help in decision making, which I think is a crucial because there's so many avenues a career can go that having some guidance is key. Lastly, I wanted to mention the tone of the meetings - they are refreshingly casual but still productive. As someone who goes to networking events all the time, it's easy to feel like I'm wasting my time talking about current events or the intricacies of the drive to the event, instead of getting to the networking part. Marisa leaves room for polite conversation but with a structure to keep things productive and moving. A lot of accomplished in those 60mins. So if you are in the early years of your career in cyber and can spare the fee, I would say Marisa's mentorship is worth the cost. I'll certainly endeavor to book some time with her again in the future.

D. Since the question is mentioning the false negatives.
Can't believe it but...
I passed today! It's difficult to summarize the exam experience. I've scheduled it thinking "OK, I'm confident on about 80% of the content, so I should be able to do some damage control on the 20% left". CISSP exam from the 3rd question until the end : "So, let's talk about those 20% 😏" Even with the knowledge, it was sometimes (often) completely impossible for me to rationally select an answer, as if knowledge was necessary but not sufficient. If it happens to you, don't give up and trust your intuition. Study strategies I've found useful : 1. Being part of this community, where I've been feeling supported and valued. Hello @Vincent Primiani 🙂 2. The awesome and comprehensive study sessions @Josh Botz 3. Books I used and loved : Destination CISSP ebook (super useful to understand quickly a lot of content), All-in-One CISSP exam guide (super useful to go into greater detail) 4. Learnzapp for the practice questions and practice tests, really a good training for the exam 5. Taking the CC exam. Thanks to @Clifford Jenkins and @Jon Brown for suggesting that.
