Week 4- The ONE Spot Challenge 🎵
Choose ONE part of your day that tends to lose children's attention. Share your way to incorporate music & movement to recapture active engagement: - A song that walks children through a transition - A movement that teaches a concept you're already working on - A chant that replaces something you'd normally just say - For instant support, use shakers!

One of my biggest (chaotic) transitions is from lunch to recess, kids are finished eating/cleaning up before others, kids are going to the bathroom, kids are getting coats on, and some kids are getting packed up for half day dismissal. I like having a movement song or the sock game that can be started. This is also part of my day where there are a lot of adults coming and going (breaks/lunch), so I will need to find a way for it to be more consistent of the activity, that even a child could lead.
Week 2- Aha Moment 🌟
What's one thing from this week's video you're already itching to try? Tell us the takeaway and how you plan to use it!

@Shauna Herber, I am glad you brought this up. I think that is why I have stopped using my visual schedule, so would love to see what you implement

I LOVE adding a song and actual pictures to the schedule. I gave mine up a couple of years ago because it was just taking up valuable teaching space. My goal this year is to use a visual schedule (with songs and actual pics) and reference it throughout the day.
Welcome to my new school!
Welcome to Musically Minded Academy. The doors are officially open, and I could not be happier that you're here. 🎵 I've spent over 25 years in early childhood classrooms, and the thing I hear most from teachers is some version of "I want to use music with my kids, but I don't know where to start." This is the place I built to answer that. Inside, you'll learn how to bring music into the lives of the young children you teach, and just as importantly, you'll come to understand the brain science behind why it works. When you understand the why, the how gets so much easier, and a whole lot more fun. My mission has always been to take the overwhelm out of teaching and bring the joy back. That's what this community is for. A place to learn ideas that actually work with real kids on real mornings, without adding one more thing to your already full plate. So here's your first step: drop a comment below and introduce yourself. Tell us where you teach and what brought you here. I read every single one, and I can't wait to get to know you. 💛 Let's make some music together. Jocelyn

I am Wendy, I teach at Sacred Heart in Bellevue, WA. I love incorporating music into my day, I know I need to do more music and movement, I struggle with having everything ready and convenient, and to coordinate it with what I am expected to teach. I can't wait to have more tools and confidence!
