@Chip Jr. in the uk because we very rarely get nice weather when most people wild camp it would be in a tent, hammock or under a tarp. But as soon as the weathers nice and not cold during the night some people like to sleep with nothing and just lay on the ground under the stars and they call it cowboy camping. It’s probably from what we see in the films, just sleeping under the stars next to a fire. I personally haven’t done it but I’ve got some mates who love it.
