How do people search online? Most of the time, we don’t type out a perfectly worded question. We type 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗵𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 that describe what we’re looking for. Think: 🔎 “anxiety workbook” 🔎 “how to save money” 🔎 “books for autistic kids” 🔎 “beginner gardening” 🔎 “how to stop overthinking” These are 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝗵𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀, and they’re one of the easiest ways to start understanding whether people are actually looking for information about your potential book topic. Search engines like Google and marketplaces like Amazon use what you type to figure out what you’re looking for and surface relevant results. And that little 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 that appears while you're typing? Pay attention to it. 👀 Here’s a super simple exercise I teach inside my 𝗧𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸: Go to Amazon and start typing your topic into the search bar. Don’t finish the phrase. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁? Then try the same thing on Google. If you start typing your idea and both platforms begin suggesting related searches, that’s a 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹. It tells you those phrases are common enough that the platform believes they may be relevant to what you're looking for. ⚠️ 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁: autocomplete alone does NOT prove that you have a profitable book idea. It’s a signal, not the entire research process. You still need to look at things like competition, reader intent, existing books, positioning, and whether there’s enough opportunity for 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 book. But this is one of the easiest places to start when you're sitting there wondering: “𝗜𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀?” This is just one of the little gems I teach inside my 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀, where I walk you through how I approach book ideas with research instead of simply crossing my fingers and hoping people buy. 💗 🔥 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 $𝟭𝟱. I started my day with the biggest smile because today is my son's 5th birthday! 🥳🎂 I had to work today, but thankfully I was able to work from home so I could make his morning a little extra special. Before he left for the day, I surprised him with a few birthday presents, and seeing his face light up was the best part of my morning.
