Bought some fabric in New Zealand many years ago and combined that with some South African Shwe shwe cotton fabric at the back to make some placemats as a gift for our family in New Zealand.

Hi, I’m Wanda van der Bijl. I am trying my hand at slow stitching projects this year. Here is my WIP sashiko rice bag which must be finished by 20 Nov! Its an 18th birthday gift bag for a young man moving to Japan to study next year. So although they might not use these so much for carrying rice any more, I hope this will be a reminder that we support and love his new adventure!
