Hi, I have a general question for those that have been homeschooling for a while. Was there ever a point where your kids wanted to return to a school setting? What did that conversation look like? My 5yo was in daycare/preschool from 7mos to 4 years old. I never wanted her to be in school but I had to work and finally reached a point where I was able to be home fulltime to homeschool. She was confused for the first month and then was living her best life, but every once in a blue she will bring up wanting to go back to school. I believe it's the social aspect that she's missing and also because all childrens shows at some point mentions children being in school and we do not know anyone else who homeschools. So it's new for both of us. My parents also do not understand why I choose to homeschool and will sometimes say to my children, they'll love school or "I bet you can't wait to be in school." Those type of statements. They believe my children will not be able to go to high school or college. Second question, how did you navigate family that makes comments on your children being homeschooled? For example, my daughter is very shy and introverted and my parents and siblings will default to "that's because she's homeschooled". But she's not isolated, we actually go out all the time and go to the park where there's other kids, she also was on a dance team this past season and has friends in her church class that we go to every Sunday and she plays with her little sisters all day, every day and her cousins who stay the night every weekend. For context, I am Christian, I understand not every family follows this belief but my reason for homeschooling was related to me and my husbands beliefs. So I did explain this to my daughter, but I do feel like the outside factors influence her to think we should be following the social norm with regular schooling.

Hi Darlena, I hope your summer has been going well also! Sorry to see you go. I don't really have an answer to your previous question, but if you'd like I can definitely help you find out. The process may be different depending on the state you are in. What is the age of the child(ren) and just to clarify, is the placement for returning to school? You mentioned for their perspective, but I'm not entirely sure what you might be referring to.

Summer
Hello everyone. I just wanted to know many of are homeschooling year round? Also what does that schedule look like for your family?

I am teaching through the summer but lightly. My eldest is 5, and a level 1 reader so mainly a summer reading list, outdoor learning (gardening, learning plants, bugs, nature things). and introducing anatomy and physiology, per her request to learn about how the body works. and continuing math. Normally we learn 5 days a week with one of those days being a flex day for myself. During this summer season, I'm kind of teaching hands on where I can, because we are out most days. So less structured lessons. We've kind of been on like a 3 days a week rhythm. My 3 yo is learning beginning sounds and counting, so that can be done anywhere anytime.
