Quick but not too quick
Story about my Turo and car rental business , 2022-24 has been a rush of failures of my Turo business , I scale from 1 to 7 cars in less than a year , and got 2 cars stolen one total loss car. 2 incidents where I had to pick up a car 5000 Miles from pick up location. 2 cars in the mechanic shop for more than a month got my income to almost 0 , believe I am hustler positive guy that don’t give up easily but this business got me so stress out in very small amount of time. Guests that wanted to keep my car for more days without paying . Lying to me and to Turo that they booked more days on the app. Personal credit card maxed out. I have the business in a highly season area. 6 months are completely dead. Unfortunately i decide to let this business go Also loosing an SUV 2019 96k Qx50 to a REPO because I am just behind Sorry not to be negative but I tried everything even cohosting cars

Hi @Ariel De la Rosa Torres ! I just want to encourage you that you are not alone. I had a Turo business from 2019-2021. I scaled to 3 cars very quickly and then the pandemic hit so I slowed down with adding more cars but I live in Miami where we only had a shutdown for 30 days so people were still renting. I had similar experiences as far as people having accidents in my vehicles, getting the cars towed for parking in tow away zones, smoking weed inside the vehicle causing me to have to get expensive interior detailing, etc. Turo was very good about paying for physical damage but I found the business to be very unsustainable once I calculated all the fees I had as a host vs the percentage of the transaction that I was paid by Turo. My fleet was all luxury cars so my costs were high and those vehicles were so common in my market that it drove the prices down very low. In general I found Turo not to be as host friendly as they should be and they were taking a huge cut of the proceeds making it impossible to consistently be profitable. Turo is not as easy as people make it seem so sometimes it really may be best to walk away. Don’t feel like you failed, I know lots of Turo host with horror stories. It’s definitely not for everyone and it really depends on your market as well. Best wishes to you and I pray you find massive success with your next venture whatever it is!
