@Jan Brightwood oh yes the best isn't that favourite track and a good dance (esp when no ones around ) 😂
Have you ever been labeled something, in a derogatory way?
It happens in my house every day, when my teenager calls me a “Hippie”. He doesn’t mean Hippie as in , “You challenge the dominant paradigms and you’re so free-flowing, connected to nature, and creative, and I really respect that, mom. “ He means Hippie as in, “You are embarrassing and lame mom, and why won’t you ever cook meat when we live around a bunch of ranchers and some of my best friends are ranchers?!” I’ve learned not to take it personally or to get upset by it. I’ve told him when he stops being a teenager, I can stop being a Hippie. It will be a while! When he’s out of the house, he won’t care if I’m being a Hippie or not! It’s important to be yourself and to do what makes you happy and makes you feel good, even if others (including family members) don’t understand it and make fun of you for it. I choose to be a vegetarian. I live in a family of meat eaters, and I completely respect the choices others make around food. I’m grateful to live in a time when we CAN make choices about what to eat. I spent a year eating meat and salads when I was working on clearing Candida! It’s ok to choose the kind of eating style that makes you feel the best, whatever that is. And it’s ok to change when it’s clear that it’s necessary, or you feel like it. Below is the so-called “Hippie Dinner” I made the other night, Coconut Cauliflower Curry. Sharing the recipe cuz it was absolutely delicious and pretty simple to put together! I added peas and a pepper to the recipe to add more of a variety of veggies. What do you do when someone labels you, whether it’s a family member, friend, acquaintance, or total stranger? How have you dealt with that in the past?

@Vasi Smith oh yes that looks like a great one pot dish, it's open to so many possibilies that dish, adding other veg like you did and also throwing in chickpeas and butter beans be lovely too. I can relate to what you are saying, not from a vegetarian perspective but from processed foods. My kids felt very hard done by growing up because they had to eat all my home made dishes, biscuits, desserts etc It was tough at the time. Then there was a time i just let go and they both had plenty chocs, crisps etc however now my son at 21 is healthier than us and enjoys cooking healthy meals, also i never taught them too cook, too busy. It's been an interesting journey.

@Vasi Smith l hear you been there. I realised for my own sanity, health & well being I let go. For me I was quite freeing. But I know what you are going through and mean.
