"A belief is just a thought you keep thinking." - Abraham Hicks. Affirmations are a good tool for reprogramming the subconscious. I believe that they work best when you can say them and feel either neutral or better. Like someone said above: the universe (or subconscious mind) doesn't speak any language! π€ It accepts vibrations, like your emotional state, combined with images/concepts in your imagination. If you affirm something, like "I have so many clients" and then you feel a pit in your stomach because you remember you have none and get an image of your empty calendar, you're actually affirming to the subconscious: "I have no clients" because that's the VIBRATIONAL message you're sending. Repetition can plant a belief, but if you're resisting the belief, you might be reaffirming your resistance. So be honest about how it feels. If you don't feel neutral or good/great about it yet, find a more neutral or general statement to affirm at first, like "Clients find me easily." It can also help to just write a phrase over and over again while you're doing another task, like listening to music or watching a movie. You can put notes up with affirmations in places where you're doing a repetitive task, like brushing your teeth or playing video games. It's good to read affirmations right before you sleep/right when you wake up.
