Authors?
Yesterday at the Big Idea Mixer, Dr. @Emily Jamea gifted me a copy of her book Anatomy of Desire: Five Secrets to Create Connection and Cultivate Passion. It got me thinking… how many of our TEDxThirdWard volunteers, semifinalists, alumni, and supporters are authors too? If you’ve written a book, I’d love for you to drop your link below so we can celebrate your work and share it with the community. Let’s keep lifting each other up and showing just how many big ideas are coming out of this circle.

I’ve not yet written a book, but I’ve been publishing short form essays on Medium. “What My Grandfather Left Me” https://medium.com/@una.stevenson/what-my-grandfather-left-me-ee07d3f3b359 https://medium.com/@una.stevenson/what-my-grandfather-left-me-part-2-dba1c6a238eb My most recent one being “What My Grandmother Showed Me”. https://medium.com/@una.stevenson/what-my-grandmother-showed-me-part-1-610b00bcc00e They are in honor of my grandparents who raised me and my siblings. My grandmother very recently passed and my grandfather several years ago. Their legacy lives on in me and my siblings who they raised etc.
Who’s changed their title?
Hey hey hope everyone is dreaming and doing! 🤗 So am I the only one who feels the need to change your title? I found that my title wasn’t allowing me to flow the way I naturally can and by changing my title it gave me a spark. My core message topic is the same but my title and my direction for delivery wants to shift. I woke up this morning with a spark and now the original title just doesn’t sit right. Of course my overthinking is getting the best of me! Anyone else change their title?

I’ve waffled, changed and added to the list of potential/working titles. I decided to work backwards from talk to title and see what comes from what I plan to submit. I’ve resolved that this is iterative. The title now is important but the 3 min submission video is even more so. Blessings as you keep working on it!

@Josef Stetter Excellent question! Thank you for asking. For me, the difference between trauma and adversity is in how it impacts identity. Adversity tests your endurance. Trauma alters your wiring. Both offer opportunities to grow, but trauma often leaves a residue that reshapes how you see yourself, others, and the world. I believe adversity can build character, but trauma, especially unaddressed, can distort it. My message isn’t about glamorizing pain or staying stuck in it. It’s about acknowledging that some of us are building while still learning how to process what hurt us. I believe God allows stretching seasons for our refinement. I also believe that healing and building don’t have to happen in separate chapters.
