Scripture says they are those who “walk in a vain show” and “flatter with their tongue” while their hearts are far from righteousness. They wear faces that please men, not God. And when light exposes what is hidden, they do not repent—they retaliate. Those who discern are pushed aside. Truth-tellers are silenced, labeled troublesome, or accused of lacking love. Meanwhile, those who wound others are excused, covered, and defended. This is not by accident. The Word tells us that darkness resists light, because light makes deeds manifest. In such systems, meekness is mocked, mercy is misunderstood, and compassion is treated as weakness—though Scripture declares the meek blessed and the merciful favored by God. Those who do not seek control, dominance, or elevation through others’ pain are often overlooked, yet they are the ones walking in integrity. A person who feels powerful only by crushing others has never known true authority. For true power is self-government—the fruit of the Spirit. It is humility. Accountability. The ability to endure correction without rage or denial. It is strength that does not need to be loud, cruel, or performative. Those who walk in truth may stand alone for a season—but they stand with God. And that ground is unshakable.
