SSL/TLS certificate lifespans reduced to 47 days by 2029
The CA/Browser Forum has voted to gradually shorten the lifespan of SSL/TLS certificates from the current 398 days to just 47 days by March 2029, aiming to improve internet security by encouraging frequent certificate renewal and greater automation. While this move is intended to reduce risks from outdated or compromised certificates, it has raised concerns about increased administrative burden and potential unintended consequences for organizations managing complex infrastructures. - From March 15, 2026, certificate lifespan and DCV will be reduced to 200 days - From March 15, 2027, certificate lifespan and DCV will be reduced to 100 days - From March 15, 2029, the certificate lifespan will be reduced to 47 days and DCV to 10 days https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/ssl-tls-certificate-lifespans-reduced-to-47-days-by-2029/
