Up until early last year, I suffered from acid reflux and heartburn daily. I finally narrowed it down to caffeine — mainly coffee. Which is still crazy to me! Since then I've been 100% caffeine free ( 14 months on April 1st 🥳). No coffee, no energy drinks, no green / black tea, no soda pop. Herbal teas only 🙌🏻 Here's something I didn't expect though — once I cut caffeine, I noticed other things shifting too. Caffeine can actually trigger inflammation in some people, and it's a known diuretic, meaning it quietly dehydrates you even when you think you're hydrating. For me, cutting it out was like finally letting my body exhale. Buuuuutttttt I missed my iced coffee. Like seriously MISSED MY ICED COFFEE! Someone told me cold brew was easier on your stomach and less acidic than hot coffee — so I looked into decaf cold brew and I was hooked. The only downside? Cold brew is spendy af. 😅 So I bought a home cold brew kit and never looked back! Now I get to enjoy my iced coffees without the jitterz — and I'm happy to report: still no heartburn, still no acid reflux. 🙌🏻 The process takes 12-24 hours. I usually prepare in the afternoon and then let it bloom on my countertop until the following morning. I go 16-20 hours 🌿 Drop your cold brew brand in the comments — I'll share mine too! ☕
