My son and I recently finished a 2 week downhill bike parks trip in Canada. Numerous times while riding I found myself channeling my inner Levi. On some super steeps I found I was getting behind on the bike and I kept hearing Levi say something like "Get That Chin Over the Bars." Doing so doesn't feel as natural (because you fear going over the bars), but gives you way better control as you're arms/legs aren't fully extended. I also found that at times going over roots with big bomb holes on the downhill side, Levi was in my head saying "push those bars down." Sound advice as again you're now in control rather than just being a passenger and allowing the bike to control you. Even though they don't look like your typical drop, they should be treated as such because that's what they really are. The final note about trusting Levi, it wasn't that many years ago that my son and I worked with Levi on jumping. The final jump that my son and I hit on our trip was a 50 ft table. I wasn't pushing to clear it but my son was and on the final lap, he only missed clearing it by about an inch (after going bigger on each iteration).
