🔥 TONIGHT WE GO LIVE!
Tonight at 7 PM CT, Sonia and I are hosting our very first Plain English LIVE for our Premium community! And we're starting with a conversation I think a LOT of pastors and leaders need to have: VOLUNTEERISM IS NOT AN ASSEMBLY LINE Here's the question we're wrestling with tonight: Are we actually developing the people God has given us...or are we just finding bodies to fill positions? Because there's a difference. Sometimes in church leadership, we can get so focused on everything that needs to get done that we start looking at people primarily through the lens of what they can do for the organization. We need another usher. We need somebody in kids ministry. We need another worship team member. We need somebody to lead this group. And before long, leadership can start feeling like an assembly line where we're constantly trying to move people into the next open position. But Ephesians 4 doesn't tell leaders to fill positions. It tells us to equip people. And that's a VERY different responsibility. So before we get together tonight, I want to hear from you: What's the difference between USING a volunteer and DEVELOPING a volunteer? And if you've ever served somewhere where you genuinely felt developed as a person instead of simply used to accomplish a task, what did that leader do differently? Drop your thoughts below. 👇🏾 Then Premium Family, meet us back here tonight at 7 PM CT! Bring your experiences. Bring your questions. Bring your disagreements too. 😂 Because this isn't a lecture. We're having a conversation. 🔥 Plain English LIVE Tonight | 7 PM CT Premium Members

As I’ve shared, I’ve held many leadership positions, but none of them developed me personally. Well I take that back - youth ministry definitely challenged me - those kids wanted the unadulterated truth and nothing fake. However, in other roles, it always felt like “work” not ministry. Was not expecting any leaders to have a magic wand or anything of the sorts, but I guess I was wanting to be stretched beyond things I did naturally. I have a conflict tonight, but will be tuning in the replay.
👋 INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
One of the greatest strengths of this community isn't just the teaching, it's the people God is bringing together. Before you jump into the conversations, we'd love to get to know you. Take a moment to introduce yourself by sharing: 👋 Your name 📍 Where you're from ⛪ Your church (if you attend one) 💼 What you do for work or ministry 🌱 Which area are you most passionate about right now? - Marriage - Leadership - Five-Fold Ministry 🙏 What's one thing you're believing God to grow in during this season? 🎉 Share one fun fact about yourself! Finally... 👇 How did you find Plain English Academy? - Live Leadership Cohort - Facebook - YouTube - Garden City Church - Friend or Family - Other We can't wait to get to know you! Before you leave, take a minute to read a few other introductions and welcome someone you don't know. Great communities aren't built by one person, they're built one conversation at a time. Hello everyone, I’m Tonya Mc Clendon. Born and raised in here in Lake County. I attend Garden City Church. In a previous ministry I served in the choir, Youth Ministry Leader, Marriage and Counseling Secretary, Multimedia leader, Assisted in the church office - wherever there was a need - I did it. At this stage, I don’t just want to be “busy” in ministry. I’m focusing on my own spiritual development and praying that God leads to me to what’s next. Professionally, I have a Masters in Business Administration and work in in the Pharmaceutical Industry in Regulatory Affairs. I have two adult children, a wonderful daughter-n-love and 7 grandchildren from ages Kindergarten to College Freshman. I don’t take things too seriously, especially things I have no control over. I find humor in everything - even when I shouldn’t. 🤣 Looking forward to continued development and growth!
