@Gary Dranow Thanks, Gary, good observation. I've been letting my posture and neck position slip lately and it's making it harder to finger some things. I'll pay attention to that and try your suggestions.

Great comments, thanks! One of the benefits of submitting a video is that I watch and listen to it myself - and see the problems. In this case, both the missing notes and the funky strumming were immediately evident. Good incentive to work on it when I see what needs improvement.

Excellent comments, guys, Thanks! Kyle, I'm trying to use a down stroke on the beats (1,2,3,4) and an up stroke on any "ands" I play. That said, when I review the video I see I am not consistent or totally intentional about every note I hit. I'm continuing to work on it: fewer notes, more intentional counting and alternate picking. Miles, I couldn't agree more! CM is hard for me because I'm forced to use very different fingering for the melody notes than I would if playing a single line. Often struggling to hit the chord in time, and losing the ability to control the tone, volume or duration of the melody notes. Inch by inch....

Thanks, guys for the comments, I'll keep working on the volume and clarity. But, without wanting to sound defensive, this was somewhat the sound I was after, light and a little bit delicate, the way I hear bossa in my head. I tried for a definite down stroke on counts 1 and 2 of each 2-bar pair, and a definite upstroke on the "and of 4" on the change to the next bar. Between those I was trying to arpeggiate the chord slightly by lightly hitting one or two key notes on an up stroke (off-beats) rather than the whole chord (while still staying in the groove as well as I could). That said, I have generally tried to play bossa-type tunes strictly with my fingers, sometimes on a nylon string guitar. This was an early attempt using a pick, and I've never attempted hybrid picking. So....lots to learn and I'll keep trying. The backing track was lifted from iReal, slightly modified in Studio One with the piano turned way down but not off.

Thanks, Marc, this was very helpful. I really like the idea of using a down stroke on the up beat for a fuller chord and attention to a straighter stroke instead of swinging my wrists. Lots of good stuff to work on! I'll keep trying to improve the comping as I move forward with CM etc.
