Things I've learned from being quiet
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR. A PRACTICE OF QUIET WILL BRING EVERYTHING THATS NOT WORKING IN YOUR LIFE INTO FOCUS. BUT IT’S RARELY THE THING THATS NOT WORKING. IT’S HOW YOU’RE PERCEIVING IT. WHEN YOU CHANGE HOW YOU’RE PERCEIVING IT, THE EMOTIONAL TENSION DISSIPATES, AND THE PROBLEM EITHER SELF CORRECTS..OR THE RE-SOLUTION BECOMES OBVIOUS. YOU ARE THE IN-FORMATION. BUT YOUR MIND MIGHT BE TOO NOISY. SO THE SIGNALS ARE HARD TO HEAR. “BOREDOM IS THE SENSATION OF DOPAMINE REPLENISHING.” “CONFUSION IS THE SENSATION OF NEUROPLASTICITY.” There's more of this stuff on substack, where I write this kind of nonsense all the time. But anyway, it's Sunday. Time to wind down the week and put a full stop on it ⚫️ New features in quiet time Arabic and Farsi languages for our quiet fans abroad! We welcome you wholeheartedly. As ever the link is here and in the calendar. (Always the same link on every post). And First timers go here 10 mins before to familiarise yourselves. 9pm UK time. See you on the cushion.

Quiet time - its that time
I don't know about you but my week has been less than quiet. In fact its been relentlessly loud and boisterous. Loud in emotion, loud in stress, not so loud in thought funnily enough, and with enough inner spaciousness to experience the stress without being too spun out and reactive - which I'm putting down as testament to a regular practice of quiet - but high activity without a lot of mental emotional digestive time. I was reading on substack earlier about how informational obesity is killing us. But first its dumbing us down. By breakfast we have consumed a war, 4 political opinions, 7 linkedin sermons, a celebrity divorce, someone explaining quantum physics in 43 seconds, another person telling you why coffee is killing you, a podcast clip in which a 24 year old millionaire is telling you why waking up at 4:37AM changed his life... Our brains were never designed for this buffet. Informational obesity has the same tragedy as physical obesity: you can be completely stuffed and still terribly undernourished. Being plugged into the collective nervous system 247 is more than our individual nervous systems are able to handle. So much noise, so little genuine signal. This is why quiet practice is so relevant today, to create inner space as the last line against the flooding of the brain with light and sound from around the globe. This image by Beeple feels particularly relevant. Reminds of how I feel after eating a pack of sweet shop candies.... See you in two hours Get your free Quiet Time First timers read this (10 mins)

Quiet time - its that time
General discussion + permission check Tom Woodfin! Why trying to heal internal patterns without a system leaves you stuck in emotional reactivity
Trying to overcome chronic stress, anxiety, overthinking, and people-pleasing through body-mind practices while letting your reflection notes, somatic exercises, and inner work get scattered across random journaling apps and loose notes is an absolute recipe for overwhelm. When you are trying to slow down, investigate limiting patterns, and build genuine emotional resilience, letting your personal growth tracking get buried across a chaotic maze of open browser tabs and phone memos makes lasting transformation nearly impossible. Stepping into true inner healing and intentional living means ditching the digital clutter and anchoring your development into a clean, intuitive framework. Instead of juggling random notes, I now rely on a centralized Notion and spreadsheet ecosystem to track my somatic reflection logs, body-mind practice milestones, and self-inquiry audits without the mental noise. You can also use spotify.com or youtube.com to curate grounded nervous-system regulation tracks, somatic breathwork sessions, and guided meditation guides. Paired with a dedicated growth pipeline to organize weekly reflection prompts and clarity exercises built using clean layouts (designed easily over at canva.com), my entire inner journey has moved from sporadic overwhelm to peaceful, steady execution. Whenever I need to break down an emotional trigger or structure a deep somatic reflection exercise—like designing a step-by-step evening journaling framework for shifting out of reactivity and calming the nervous system—I drop my rough thoughts into floment.ai and instantly get three targeted variation options and gentle guidance frameworks in seconds flat. Massive thanks to @Tom Woodfin for the permission to share! What body-mind practices, emotional resilience tools, or inner exploration frameworks are you all working with inside the school right now? Let's connect and discuss in the comments below!

Hey Emily, Agree on the ditching digital clutter, and thanks for the tips. So far what's being shared in the school is base level practices, a practice of Quiet, breathing and Sound. These are all body/nervous system regulating. When it comes to arranging digital spaces, it's not something I've looked into all that much so far, but it does seem relevant, as I believe the digital world is indeed fragmenting our attention in ways that are creating lots of mental clutter and emotional debris. All of this is what we're engaged in the practice here of metabolising and clearing out.

I would add this community is in its infancy at the moment, and so am partly shaping it, and have a plan for what I want to build but also allowing it to be shaped by people's interests and needs.
