Our pit mix was a snuggle muffin and always wanted to be on top of person or on a pile with the other pets. @Krisztina Rudnay-Peters

Handy tips!
Not tech per se, but probably just as good a place as any to keep this for future ref! You may have noticed that we love a photo and video here in Skool Dogs. It can be hard to secure a second person to film you, and if you have a partner like mine; the ensuing footage is not worth the effort lol! So here are a few tips on how to solo film yourself! I can highly recommend purchasing a mobile phone tripod and selfie stick to help "self video"! You can pick them up for various price brackets on Amazon, and they generally fold up small and neatly! I keep one in my van. They tend to telescope up and down so you adjust how high you want it. The only "negative" I have encountered is it can been a little unstable on grass and with a bit of wind, so I tend to also prop it against something and make sure if it does fall it is not going to hit something or land on concrete! Or just secure it to something with a string or bungee to support it! There are also tripods that can be manipulated to grip trees, fences etc. They are usually called flexible, octopus or gorilla grip At a push I have also trapped the flap of my phone case into van window so phone is laying flat against window, or laid it on something and put a weight on flap! Of course there are also fancy phone cases that fold out and support the phone so you are sorted! There are lots of ways of making a DIY stand, have seen slots cut into cardboard rolls, boxes etc. At an extreme measure, several feet of gorilla tape lol! Also don't forget to double check it is recording (yes, been there and done that lol!) Also that it is using the correct camera side to film the action, ie front or back camera! Another useful tip, is to set up, then place a couple of markers out where you intend to film, and double check you can see them in the camera view, it just helps keep you in the area of filming esp if you move around. (Yes, also have some lovely videos of just happy wagging tails!) I also use my DSLR for filming, so again a tripod or stable area to put on. Again just double check and mark your field of vision!

Bomb proofing Lina 🀩
πŸ’₯ BE AWARE THAT THE VIDEO'S CONTAIN THE BOMB SOUND πŸ’₯ Yesterday we went to our most favoritwe place in the Netherlands, Kootwijkerzand. On the militairy area close to is, they were bombing and shooting while we were there. The bombing was so loud that I could feel the pressure on my body. The first bomb, Lina looked a little surprised and curious and as it (an we) continued, she was totally fine with it, nothing special going on. After having a dog with anxienty, I was super happy that we accidentally had this experience yesterday with Lina 😁 She's already a bombproof puppy, set up for succes later on 🀩 πŸ’₯ BE AWARE THAT THE VIDEO'S CONTAIN THE BOMB SOUND πŸ’₯

🐢 Fresh Food vs Kibble β€” What A New Study Found
A 2025 Cornell University study followed senior sled dogs for a whole year to see what happened when they swapped kibble for fresh, lightly cooked food. Instead of just checking their weight or coat, the vets looked inside their blood to see what was really going on. 🩸 🧬 The Setup - 22 healthy older dogs (about 12 years old) - All started on kibble for 4 months - Then half stayed on kibble, half switched to fresh food - The study lasted 12 months with regular vet checks πŸ— What Changed on Fresh Food After just one month, and lasting all year: βœ… Their bodies burned fat more efficiently βœ… They had better muscle + brain nutrients βœ… More omega-3s from salmon oil & chia (good for joints, skin, heart) βœ… More antioxidants protecting cells from damage βœ… Less inflammation and fewer β€œAGEs” (harmful compounds from heavily processed food) What Stayed the Same - Weight stayed steady πŸ• - Bloodwork stayed healthy 🩸 What It Means This is one of the first long-term studies showing that food quality and processing can make a real difference inside a dog’s body β€” even when calories stay the same. Fresh, lightly cooked diets: - Support healthier metabolism - Reduce inflammation - May help dogs live longer, happier lives In a Nutshell Switching older dogs from kibble to fresh food made their blood look more like that of younger, healthier dogs β€” with cleaner energy and less aging stress. The fresher the food, the fresher the dog. 🐾✨
