A very English winter day here today🌧️
Cold, grey, and one of those mornings where you wake up feeling slightly like a cold might be lurking… so I made a sensible decision and cancelled a planned 7-mile hike. Old me might have pushed on regardless — current me knows better 😉 Mike and I still took the dog out, but just for a gentle mile. Fresh air, slow pace, no pressure — and honestly, it’s helped far more than forcing anything would have. It felt like a good reminder that movement doesn’t have to be big or impressive to be supportive. Sometimes the right choice is less, not more. And a warm welcome to our newest member, Tina, who’s just joined — lovely to have you here 💛 Make yourself at home. Question for you: On days like this, do you tend to push through… or are you learning to listen to your body and adjust? No right or wrong — just curious.

@Jackie Tarling Mostly online. I did get 4 calls/zooms over a 3 month period. I’m still in the fb group and still receive “canned” emails but I gave up. I was working hard and believed I would lose 20 lbs in 3 months (she said I would lose 30) so I got discouraged. I’m still paying on that debt.

@Jackie Tarling no zoom just yet but thanks. I think the biggest thing that helped was a lot of protein and moving my body. I wasn’t able to do a lot of the exercises I was given but I was moving my body more.
Bread - Don’t eat your bread until you’ve watched this!
This video just came up on my feed - I’ve rarely eaten bread for years now, but if you do love your morning toast and lunch sandwich then do watch this. It delves into the many worrying ingredients added into these frankenfoods for profit and speed https://youtu.be/BZGSndUs8PQ?si=w03uPpFf9XN1xNF8 Let me know - are you eating any of these brands?

Would I be better off baking my own?

@Jackie Tarling That sounds exciting. It’s hard here in the u.s. with so many chemicals, gmo, and things fda approved and allowed but potentially deadly.
A little behind-the-scenes honesty 💛
The last couple of weeks haven’t gone quite to plan for me. Alongside starting two brand new Pilates classes (on top of the two I already run), I managed to pack in hill walking, gym sessions, hauling logs for the woodburner, and some rather enthusiastic gardening (hello anemones 🌱). My back… had other thoughts.😡 Add in an old mountain bike accident from a few years ago — on the same side — and at one point I could barely get in and out of the car. Not exactly the image people have of a Pilates instructor, right? 😉 Thankfully, I saw my osteopath on Monday and he helped release things, and I’m feeling much more like myself again. But it was a timely reminder of something I see all the time. Even when you know your body well, you can’t always plan for how it’s going to respond. What you can plan for is how you listen to it. This experience reinforced why gentle, consistent movement matters more than pushing through or trying to do all the things at once. Progress isn’t linear, and sometimes the smartest move is slowing down so you can keep going long-term. So if your body hasn’t quite cooperated with your plans recently — you’re not failing. You’re human. And learning to work with your body is part of the journey. I’m easing back in, moving steadily, and reminding myself that rest and recovery are part of strength too… even when my enthusiasm gets a little ahead of me 😄 Question for you: “Does your body tend to whisper… or shout when it wants you to rest?” 😅

Shouts! Last weekend I helped my oldest daughter do some deep cleaning and move furniture. A big mistake according to my lateral obliques. BUT had my core been stronger it wouldn’t have hurt near as bad.
Intro
Hi! I am Tina Belcher ( yes, that is my real name) and I live in southwest Virginia. My body is 59 years old and I’m a grandmother to 4, one of which we are raising. I came here looking for women of my generation to converse with and to get healthier with. I am horribly out of shape ( strength and endurance) and have a meno belly that no one, not even my Dr, can help with. So why not trust somebody that’s either been there or at least understands where I’m at? Glad to be here!
