Why I Don’t Worry About Competition
I’m not worried about competition. I’ve learned that competition becomes a distraction when you lose sight of your mission, purpose, and own lane. The moment you stop comparing your journey to someone else’s, you can focus on becoming better than who you were yesterday. That mindset has played a big role in my real-estate journey. Before I got into real estate, I focused on building multiple streams of income and cash flow. Looking back, I’m grateful I took that step early because having multiple sources of cash flow gave me more flexibility and made my real-estate journey much easier to navigate. My advice to anyone working a 9–5 who wants to venture into real estate: don’t feel like you have to jump overnight. Start building your financial foundation and additional cash-flow streams while you're still working. Then you can enter real estate with more flexibility, options, and confidence. You don’t have to race someone else. Master your lane. Build your own path. Stay focused on your mission. When you stop looking sideways, you have a lot more energy to move forward. What’s one thing you’re currently building outside of your main source of income?

@Kevin O'Grady Hi Kevin, great connecting with you here. I’m fairly new to the community, but I’ve had a successful journey in real estate. One thing I’m especially grateful for is that I built multiple income streams before getting into real estate, which gave me the foundation and flexibility to take those next steps. Your journey through service, nursing, and firefighting really stood out to me. It shows a lot of dedication and resilience. I’ve learned that the same mindset of building step by step can make a big difference in business too. I’m always happy to connect with like-minded people, share what I’ve learned, and hear about their journey. What are you most interested in building or exploring in this next chapter?
Final update on my HyperFrames experiment.
A few days ago I shared the first version of this website promo video and got some really helpful feedback from people here. I went back, improved the pacing, transitions, text timing, and cleaned up a few sections instead of starting over. This version feels much closer to what I had in mind. A couple of clients have already seen it and asked if I could create similar promo videos for their websites, which was a nice surprise. Website: https://shivwork.lovable.app/ I'm still treating this as a learning project, so I'd love another round of honest feedback. If you watched both versions, what improved the most? And if you only saw this one, what's the first thing you'd change for the next version?

@Lexi Teifke That’s impressive, Lexi. 15+ years in management and now running your own private-money firm gives you a really interesting perspective on both the property and financing sides of real estate. I’ve found that building multiple income streams around real estate can create a lot more flexibility when growing a portfolio. I’m curious, between managing your own units and the private-money side, which one do you see having the bigger opportunity for you to scale over the next few years?

@Lexi Teifke I can definitely see how finding the right 100 people would be the toughest part, Lexi. Once you have the right people and structure, though, I think the model you’re building could really move. Funny enough, my own real-estate journey became much easier because I had already built multiple income streams before getting into it. That foundation gave me the freedom to approach real estate differently and take opportunities without feeling pressured. I’m curious to see how you end up finding those 100 people. What’s your strategy so far?

@Nate Lewis I like that mindset, Nate. I’ve found that some of my biggest growth in real estate came from learning from people who were already doing things differently, rather than trying to figure everything out alone. I’ve also learned to build multiple income streams around real estate, which has given me more flexibility as I’ve grown. What part of the business are you most focused on growing right now, getting more clients, increasing revenue, or building a more scalable operation?
Hey Everyone
Real estate taught me one thing: don’t build your income around just one part of the deal. When I started, I thought the goal was simply to acquire properties and make money from them. Over time, I realized the bigger opportunity was learning how to create multiple streams around the same real-estate knowledge, ownership, management, deals, financing, and other value-driven opportunities. That changed how I looked at growth. You don’t always need 10 different businesses. Sometimes you need one industry, multiple ways to create value. For those of you managing properties: what’s one additional revenue stream you’ve discovered that has made your business more profitable without simply adding more units? Curious to hear what’s working for everyone.
