Lowballing Jobs
Be careful not to lowball your way into work! I agree with Igor that you can’t be picky starting out, but make sure you don’t give away your time for free either! Thoughts? @Igor Zhogan

Would love you to post your YouTube video here if you don't mind. The last company i worked with always said they're happy to let the low baskets go after the low paying crap jobs. That frees up our man hours to go after the gravy jobs. So don't be afraid to lose some. You shouldn't be getting every job you bid on or your coming in easy to cheap
Everything to consider when starting and electrical contracting business
Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend. For this week let's keep a discussion going about a specific topic! Topic for this week : Everything to consider when starting and electrical contracting business For this discussion let's talk about EVERYTHING under the sun that you considered or wish you considered when starting a business. If you haven't started a business yet, what practices have you seen in the company you work for that you WOULD or WOULD NOT implement in your own business. Any thoughts, any ideas. It's all welcome. Feel free to write your own post in this thread on this topic! If you want to record yourself and post a video, that's fine too! Let's have a good week everyone!

@Tod Craig Im journeying out this week actually. No business yet. That's why all the clarifying questions. I'm building my business model and systems right now and trying to gleam what I can from others more experienced then myself. I do have a side hustle and an using Markate for that but it's only for me so tracking time and what not is not so crucial now. I know when I bid a job that's new and it takes longer than I thought it would, that I need to adjust doing forward so I adjust the item price in the software as to not lose hours next similar job.

@Tod Craig And as owner operator of this small side hustle business, my employee doesn't get bonuses or profit sharing... the wife takes it all 😜

@Bailey Stotts Are you more service based as opposed to long term contracts/ new construction etc? I feel like Tod's way is more job related while your system works better in a service call situation
Hello friends
Hello, my name is Javier. I am 33 years old and I am an electrical technician. I started working as an assistant when I was 17, and I spent many years working in residential and commercial electrical systems. At the age of 23, I obtained my certification as a technician in electrical systems and industrial control, and I have been working in that field ever since. I have worked for different companies and in various sectors, and today I am interested in starting my own business.

Hey Javier! How are electrical technicians different in your neck of the woods? Out here in CA, ETs are basically labororers that can work on electrical. The next step up is apprentice, then journeyman. ET is always looked at as a foot in the door in CA. From the way you worded your post, it seems like it's very different where you are.

I'll be replacing all the lighting out our church as well. What kind of work are you doing on the cross? Also, when you do pro Bono work, do you still have the customer pay for material or do you eat the cost of everything and write it off as a complete loss? Just curious how others approach it
