Top 3 Exercises
Most veterinary professionals have never intentionally trained for their job. They went to school for years. Developed incredible clinical skills. Learned procedures. Mastered diagnostics. Yet many have never spent time building the physical durability needed to handle the demands of the profession. That's a problem. Because veterinary medicine is physically demanding. Long hours on your feet. Awkward positions. Heavy lifting. Repetitive tasks. Stress. The hardest thing your body does all week shouldn't happen at work. That's why the next edition of The Durable Vet Brief includes a simple guide featuring 3 exercises I recommend most often to help veterinary professionals build strength, resilience, and long-term career durability. Join here You'll also receive my Veterinary Ergonomics Checklist immediately. No fluff. Just practical tools you can use right away.

I’m glad to see that the burpee did not make the list. I’m pretty sure that they were designed by the devil 😈😜

Keynote Presentation - The Veterinary Athlete
I had the honor of giving the keynote presentation at the Colorado State University Annual Conference for Veterinarians this weekend. I had such a good time engaging with attendees. I'm very encouraged by the response from the vet community. We know there's an opportunity to have more physically and emotionally resilient vet professionals and teams. It's the work I LOVE to do! My question to the Vetspan Collective community is, do you see yourself as a veterinary athlete? We know the physical and emotional demands are high in vet med. Do you spend time outside of work training for those demands?

Good morning! I’m Tiffany Ward. I am a small animal gp in Huntsville, AL. I found this site from the VetGirl webinar. My main goal right now is to focus on strength training and get back to running half marathons. I am rehabbing an acl tear (several months post op now) that happened while in TaeKwonDo. I hope to run a half marathon in each of the 50 states. I enjoy learning about anything related to fitness and nutrition so I am considering becoming a personal trainer through the NASM program.

@Aaron Shaw I’m hoping my comeback race for spring of 2027. There is a race in Utah I have my eye on but I’m concerned about the time limit 😬
