Rest Day
Business Owners: How Do You Actually Find Rest? Do you take weekends off? Is Sunday your day to unplug? Or do you genuinely believe that building a successful business requires working seven days a week? I’m curious what everyone’s routines and disciplines look like when it comes to rest. Over the past quarter, I had gotten into a really good rhythm of honoring the Sabbath, disconnecting from work, and being fully present with my family. Lately, I haven’t been nearly as disciplined with it. And something I’ve noticed is that being physically present doesn’t always mean you’re mentally present. I can be hanging out with my family, but my mind is still wandering to the business, things that need to get done, or ideas I want to pursue. I’m realizing that rest takes just as much intentionality and discipline as work does. So I’m curious, what does real rest look like for you? Have you figured out how to truly shut your business brain off, or is this something you’re still struggling with? I’d love to hear what’s actually working for other business owners.

Getting out of the house. We have the kids doing something at least on Saturday’s and we spend Sundays on chores and getting things ready for the week. I used to think about work nonstop but I realized work will always be there. No reason to let it control my mind 24/7. At times, I’m probably too relaxed when it comes to more urgent matters. But I have my family, my health, and the Lord on my side so I’d say I’m right where I need to be brother.
