The Minimal Note-Taking book introduction is out!
Please check your emails for the PZTL newsletter -- or you can read here https://letters.parazettel.com/posts/pztl-030-minimal-note-taking-introduction-inside -- if you've pre-ordered the book, then you can download and read the proof Introduction that I've attached there (subject to tweaking in the final published book). If you're not a pre-orderer, there's a link on the web-page and in the email where you can still pre-order for 30% off the price that we're listing at when we go live. Not long now until publish day! I'm still working on this as a matter of priority, but know I've got some serious upgrades to the PARAZETTEL Foundations program to come straight after that. It's an exciting time! Talk soon, -- Theo

Reviews are live on Skool!
The Skool team shipped something new recently - it's native reviews, found on the About pages of communities. If you see some kind of prompt come up, feel free to fill it out for the Foundations program if you like what's available here! There's no obligation to do so here, I'm not going to kick you out if you don't fill one out, they're still experimenting with the feature to see if it makes a meaningful difference in how people perceive the community. Just thought I'd let you know! -- Theo

Tolaria and Reflect Open
I've seen a crop of free and open-source tools appear over the last couple of months, including the two that are in the title. They're not half-assed projects either - especially Reflect, who've been around for some time as a paid service as well. What I think of this - it's as though the surface for taking notes is becoming less and less valuable, seeing as people know they can go to the industry leader (Obsidian or similar), even on their desktop, and it's more the focus on the data that's collected in such note-taking systems and how we work with it that's more important. Would be interested to hear if you've tried these or have any thoughts on them?

Foundations Day 1 (Begin Program Here)
⬇️ Scroll past program intro to find the first lesson ⬇️ The PARAZETTEL Foundations program works by giving you a small lesson each day over about the span of two weeks. You unlock the lessons gradually, and then once you're at the end, you unlock everything else in the community (if you haven't already). The process... I. The Minimum Viable System II. The Idea --> Output Pipeline III. Expanding + Compounding We go through all of these through daily video lessons and resources, and you'll go from zero to working and personalised system during that time. I'll be coming with you, using vanilla Obsidian at the start, so that you can see how I'd set things up (and so I don't have to deal with the overhead of building a custom template again 😅). You'll have emails (if you're on the list) to guide you through the process and ensure that you're not having to log into Skool and keep an eye on the classroom to stay up to date, and there'll be posts like this one that you can go through as well if you'd like. --- https://www.skool.com/parazettel-community-4498/classroom/38433b8f?md=9ad3dee232664272b69c11b345a5b586 As for today's lesson ^^ , as we said in the video and in the classroom, as a comment on this post, comment one or two things that you're working on right now that would genuinely benefit from a more dialled in PKM system -- one that works for you rather than competes for your attention. Your job is to decide before tomorrow which one of these goals it is that we're going to be working on together throughout the rest of the course, so that we can start with a clean slate and crystal sharp focus tomorrow. I await your comments, and see you soon for day 2! -- Theo

@David Sugg Thanks for sharing David, over-complicated and stale vaults are exactly the type of thing that Foundations is designed to iron out, so you’re in the right place. Please don’t hesitate to share your progress as you go through the lessons!

@Derek Penton Thanks for being here and for the support in the past as well Derek -- I'm working behind the scenes to build some resources around integrating AI, and for now, Foundations is a good place to start to make sure that we're capturing context in a way that's the most useful for agents -- let me know if you have any questions!
The importance of the Zettelkasten, even when not directly relevant
We've released today's lesson - https://www.skool.com/parazettel-community-4498/classroom/38433b8f?md=2c8cf9ba33a54d5c9a06d118063f842e It's all about idea development and management, using a Zettelkasten. Inside, you can watch as I explain why it's good to start building one ASAP, even if it's not directly to do with your project at hand, as well as how a note inside a Zettelkasten should be set out and link to others. I should remind you again that these ideas that are genuinely from your brain and in your words are your moat against blending in with all the other slop-ified output on the rest of the internet and in the real word. Start externalising them and linking them into your projects as soon as is possible. You can begin today with the instructions in the session of making two related notes in a new Zettelkasten. I'll attach some recent notes of mine as inspiration!

Here are a couple of my recent Zettelkasten notes. They can really be about anything, so long as it's one topic per note!

@Derek Penton It's a long-term pursuit -- don't look too far down the line, just get started with one or two notes about ideas that you often find yourself coming back to
