I've seen a crop of free and open-source tools appear over the last couple of months, including the two that are in the title. They're not half-assed projects either - especially Reflect, who've been around for some time as a paid service as well. What I think of this - it's as though the surface for taking notes is becoming less and less valuable, seeing as people know they can go to the industry leader (Obsidian or similar), even on their desktop, and it's more the focus on the data that's collected in such note-taking systems and how we work with it that's more important. Would be interested to hear if you've tried these or have any thoughts on them?

Your job is to decide before tomorrow which one of these goals it is that we're going to be working on together throughout the rest of the course, so that we can start with a clean slate and crystal sharp focus tomorrow. Inside, you can watch as I explain why it's good to start building one ASAP, even if it's not directly to do with your project at hand, as well as how a note inside a Zettelkasten should be set out and link to others. I should remind you again that these ideas that are genuinely from your brain and in your words are your moat against blending in with all the other slop-ified output on the rest of the internet and in the real word. Start externalising them and linking them into your projects as soon as is possible. You can begin today with the instructions in the session of making two related notes in a new Zettelkasten. I'll attach some recent notes of mine as inspiration!
