Friday, April 17, 2026 ~ Obedience Shows You are a True Believer
The Word of the Lord declares in 1 Samuel 15:22, “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” This reveals that God is not impressed with outward displays when the inward posture is misaligned. Sacrifice without obedience becomes performance, but obedience is the evidence of a surrendered heart. Many want the benefits of covenant yet resist the discipline of alignment. Blessings are not random; they are often the fruit of rightly responding to what God has already spoken. Scripture further anchors this in James 4:17: “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” This is where accountability becomes weighty. It is not just what we do in ignorance, but what we ignore in awareness. When God reveals truth, He expects response. To hear the Word and not obey it is to live in contradiction, and contradiction delays manifestation. It is dangerous to assume eligibility for blessing while resisting instruction, because obedience is what positions us to walk in what God has promised. Yet even in this, we must understand that conviction is not rejection, it is invitation. God corrects because He desires alignment, not distance. The Word also declares in Psalm 101:7, “He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.” God is a God of truth, and anything rooted in deception cannot coexist with His nature. Proverbs 6:16–17 tells us plainly that a lying tongue is among the things the Lord hates. This is not merely about behavior; it is about nature. Your nature must change not just your behavior because these are not synonymous. When people choose deception, especially in the presence of those who carry the Spirit of truth, that darkness is exposed. Light does not struggle to reveal darkness, it simply shines and we can see you clearly. Thank God people cannot successfully deceive you. You cannot deceive people who are yielded to the Holy Spirit and expect it to go undiscerned. The Spirit of God bears witness to truth and exposes error. This is not for humiliation but for correction. So, the call is clear: obedience is not optional for those who desire to walk in the fullness of God. It is not about perfection, but about posture. When we fall, we repent. When we hear, we respond. When we are corrected, we align. Because obedience is not just a requirement, it is the pathway to deeper intimacy, greater clarity, and sustained manifestation of God’s promises. Obedience keeps us in step with God. And where there is alignment, there is access. Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe God and His Word.
