Your skin is your largest organ
What are you feeding it? -------------------- Something I would love for us to get into in this group is skincare. Not the 39-step layering routine. But what skin care represents for you. Because for me, I see it as an important and integral part of caring for ourselves. And I want to share the picture below with you all because these two products represent "food for the skin." We often talk about eating for the skin in terms of the literal food we eat. But there's a whole other category that I think is equally valuable: face oils. Depending on which one you use, your skin is getting nutrients like: - beta carotene - vitamin E - omega fatty acids (3, 6, 9 and the lesser known, 7) Personally, I love oils because they contain nutrients and they are multi-taskers for someone like me who believes in taking exquisite care of this massive organ (but who doesn't believe it should require hours or tons of products). And the extra perk is I'm reducing the chemicals I'm exposed to every day (important for that skin microbiome that protects us in so many ways). ๐Ÿ‘‰ How do you approach skin care: do you see it as separate from other forms of care? Do you have any guiding principles for skin care? P.S. the small bottle on the left is sea buckthorn seed oil.

I would love for us to discuss more about skincare. I really believe that simple is best. I donโ€™t think you need 100 costly items and a 5 hr ritual to nurture your skin. I find when I buy fancy items, they rarely live up to the hype. Iโ€™ve been doing Abhyanga oiling, which I learned from reading about Ayurvedic practices. I massage myself from head to toe with warm sesame or coconut oil (or whichever oil Iโ€™m using)โ€ฆand not only does my skin feel amazing but I feel like I pampered myself on a deeper level. It makes me feel calm and balanced and more in touch with myself. What are your thoughts on dry brushing? Also, any suggestions on non-toxic makeup would be great. Thanks a bunch!

@Germaine Satia I havenโ€™t tried dry brushing yet either, so that would definitely be a good ritual to give a try. Thank you for the makeup suggestions, I truly appreciate it and will be checking it out! I donโ€™t always wear it, but I feel during zoom meetings or just on occasionโ€ฆitโ€™s nice to have a lil something extra โ˜บ๏ธ but less toxic. As much as we love inner healingโ€ฆ we also want to look good! ๐Ÿฅฐ

I really enjoyed these first 2 Restorative Sleep lessons! Thank you so much @Germaine Satia for all that you do and the wonderful resources you share with us. Iโ€™m excited to dive deeper into Yoga Nidra, and am especially resonating with the Qi Gong. It feels like just what I need at this time. I truly agree that what we do and how we live all day affects how we sleep and recover. Looking forward to the rest of the series. ๐Ÿ’— ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ
Day 5 is live! Your final experiment
Ladies we've made it to day 5! This is basically the "last" day of the ritual because days 6 and 7 will simply be about giving you room to make your tea however you wish (or skipping tea entirely if you've had enough ๐Ÿ˜„). Day 5 is about playing with a little squeeze of citrus juice (if you have any lemons or oranges at home) or adding in a spice like ginger All details are here. ๐Ÿ‘‰ To wrap up the week of experimenting I'd love to hear: - what you tried from today's suggested list - your overall experience with the tea you selected: Did you enjoy having this ritual, did it serve as a quick moment of self care during the day? How did you body respond physically to the tea?

I enjoyed my experiments with the hibiscus tea. This challenge showed me how to be more creative with tea and experience the subtle yet powerful nuances of the herb. I especially found myself enjoying cold steeping as it seemed to give a fresher cleaner version in my mind. Adding ginger, which is one of my favs gave it a spicy punch but not too overwhelming. I always feel ginger in my bloodstream circulating and having it in tea was like drinking a gentle internal massage lol, very invigorating. I didnโ€™t play with sweeteners, I stuck with honey, but thatโ€™s something I may play with. All in all, I will continue to incorporate more tea into my daily life. Iโ€™m feeling like I want to lean into lemon balm this week. Peace & blessings to everyone on their self care journey!

@Germaine Satia The movement challenge sounds absolutely nice! Iโ€™d love a simple meditation challenge as well. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ
NEW - 47 Recipes Added!
Hello lovelies! I'm so excited to announce that the first set of recipes are now in the Classroom ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ”๐Ÿช In putting together this collection my focus was on making this fun and easy for you because this space is about getting back to the simple (and powerfully healing) pleasure of food. A few things to note: - There's a video that walks you through the recipe platform and how it all works. I highly recommend watching it. - I will be adding to this collection at the beginning of every month, so it will keep growing. - There's a mix of recipes for various eating preferences (plant-based, carnivore, gluten-free, etc.). To get started: - watch the video - browse the recipes and choose ONE you're going to make this week - share your recipe of choice in the comments ๐Ÿ‘‡ Bon appรฉtit!

This is an awesome resource! Thank you for putting it together. I love trying new recipes. I resisted the air fryer until recently, and purchased an air fryer oven with various functions. I now see that these gadgets can be handy at times. The InstantPot has been helpful as well, especially with beans. So those types of recipes would be welcomed as well. Thank you!

Yeah I think the deep frying at home is definitely becoming a thing of the past! Probably a good thing lol. I feel like the stove and slow intentional cooking may also become obsolete. Thatโ€™s why I took sooo long to jump on the bandwagon. I can see the benefits of these gadgets, because we simply live in a different time now, and they do offer convenience and better options than the drive thru or processed food. Iโ€™m fighting hard to not start relying on them too often! Nothing like the smell of home cooked food that was slow simmered or simply done with care, preparation and love. Curries and spices blooming in a pot making the house smell divine! ๐Ÿ˜‹
Did you know broccoli contains phytoestrogens?
So does kale. And flaxseed. And strawberries. And chickpeas. And red clover...you get the idea. Phytoestrogens show up in so many of the foods we already eat and the herbs we've used for centuries. Which makes me wonder: if they were truly dangerous, would mother nature have tucked them into so much of what she offers us (in varying amounts, depending on the food)? We are one with nature and we are designed to eat from her bountiful garden. So, on our first group call next week, I'm going to share more about phytoestrogens and how I approach them. Because depending on who you ask, they're either a gift or something to be afraid of. (And why not start here? This group is called The Beyond Estrogen Collective; so let's start by getting beyond the phytoestrogen confusion ๐Ÿ˜Š) ๐Ÿ‘‰ P.S - Soy gets all the attention. What's one food you're surprised to see on this list?

Sadly, the more mainstream and other governing groups shout and proclaim what is best for us, in my opinion itโ€™s a sign to go the other way!
