Strategy at X
A good article below on why Philly Waterdogs, shoutout my former teammate Hayes on getting another ring, ends with an interesting note: They Didn't Press Sowers at X I'll leave this one to the guy who knows things: “Manley is a warrior and 10 years ago he would have put CJ in the third row. But not at this time. JT battles Sowers but the pick game is intense with the Waterdogs. It was foolish not pressing X.” So that leads me to ask this group on both sides of the ball, what are your thoughts at X? How would you have game planned against Sowers? Is X over rated/under rated? What do we have on this, I am intrigued. https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/why-philly-won-why-denver-lost-the-2026-pll-championship-transition-defense-diverse-offense/90c80ab4-d0ce-4ab3-b8ab-a84781a8fa65

@Austin Polson-McCannon I don't really think about X much more than any other area of the field. The way I teach offense is that they have two jobs: 1. Get as many shots as possible 2. Get 2 (or 0) defenders on the ball I don't really care where we initiate from if we can get 2 or 0 on the ball and generate more shots than the other team. "Get more shots or Hit more shots" - easier to control how many shots we get vs how many shots we hit. I, personally, like initiating from the wing because it opens up a sweep and a "skinny" dodge underneath. No matter which way an on ball defender shades, our offensive player has a good track to generate a quality shot. When you initiate from X, a defender can cut the field in half easily make a player go to their weaker hand and the help can be set into position easily. I think about X more as an outlet to flip the field and re-attack than anything because then it takes away the defenses ability to shade easily. But again, there are probably coaches who have really good schemes utilizing X as a starting point.

PL v FARM GAME BREAKDOWN
The Farmington v Prior Lake game breakdown that p-mac and I did is now available in our "Film Study" area of the classroom - https://www.skool.com/the-coaches-box-6618/classroom/91ab571f?md=6404f57f56e84dba8de70d68ee66b645 This was a fun one to do - not only because it was a great game, but both @Austin Polson-McCannon and I were able to reflect back on the though processes and real time adjustments we had to make in this game coaching against each other.

👋 Welcome to The Coaches Box!
👋 Welcome to The Coaches Box! We’re building this community to connect coaches who want to keep learning, share ideas, grow their lacrosse IQ, and help each other become better leaders and teachers of the game. Start by introducing yourself below! Tell us a little about: - Where you’re from - What program/team you coach with - What age group or level you coach - Your coaching and/or playing background - What side of the ball or area you specialize in - One thing you feel really confident coaching - One area you want to improve - What you’re hoping to learn or get out of The Coaches Box - Anything else the community should know about you Then, once you’ve introduced yourself, jump into the community: ✅ Check out the Classroom — Catch up on past Coaches Box calls, presentations, and coaching content. ✅ Explore the Drill Bank & Practice Planning resources — Find something you can use with your team, then post one of your favorite drills so other coaches can steal it too. ✅ Join the conversation — Comment on another coach’s introduction, ask a question, or share an idea that has worked for your program. ✅ Bring us your problems — Have a practice-planning question? Struggling with a scheme? Dealing with a culture or communication issue? Post it. Chances are another coach has been through something similar. ✅ Share what you know — This community gets better when coaches contribute. If you have a drill, concept, template, video, resource, or coaching idea you believe can help someone else, put it in the Box. Our goal is simple: connect good coaches, share great ideas, and help each other get better. Drop your introduction below and let’s get to know who’s in The Coaches Box! 🥍

Hey All - I am Ted and I am from Bloomington, Minnesota. I am one of the creators/admins of this Skool Community and I am excited about the opportunity to learn from all of you. As admin of this community: I think of myself as less of a 'songwriter' and more of a 'DJ' - I don't see this as a place where it's just me preaching my ideas... my goal to create a space to "play the hits" (the ideas from all the great coaches out there). I want a place we can share the cool things we all know/learn, but, also space to stir discussion amongst coaches. I think we all deal with may of the same ups/downs in our coaching practice. This can hopefully be a positive outlet for all of us to learn and share. I currently co-own Team36 lacrosse club and am the offensive coordinator at Farmington High School (MN). In addition to that, I work in administration as a middle school athletic director in MN. I would say my strengths, tactically, are on the offensive side of the ball with broader strengths in player development and culture building. In addition to always seeking new lacrosse schemes, drills, concepts, etc - I'd love to learn more about how others are using analytics with their teams (what you measure, what metrics you care about, how it impacts decision making)

New "Coaches Box" Platform
Welcome to the new Coaches Box Platform. We changed from the STAN store as we didn't love the functionality of the platform. Using Skool for the foreseeable future and we will be working to get some of the old content/resources added in as quick as possible
