I am still swamped trying to manage keeping up with rapidly evolving tech, running the other community, and making a significant leap in my own career (officially launching my start-up) and will be updating here soon. However, I wanted to leave something here because I feel it's important. Even though I do not talk about politics on other platforms, this is my safe space for all intellectual discussion, and what is happening geopolitically is not lost on me. I understand if some deliberately avoid the news for mental health and you are welcome to avoid this post, but I find solace in sharing. If you are American, this has already been a very crazy political climate, and the operations in Iran have just further escalated what I personally feel is the start of a tipping point. Just a few days ago, the DOW put anthropic to the fire about automated weapons. I just need you to let the sink in for a second. Not even the audacity of our "democratic officials" (honestly nothing they do shocks me at this point)... but the fact that a year ago AI couldn't make a hand without 6 fingers and now we have reached the era where governments are plugging them in to weapons confidently without any oversight. Privacy and data security is also more vulnerable than it ever has been, and less vulnerable than it ever will be. BUT, the same tools that the most powerful are using for unprecedented evil... are more available to you and me than they ever have been before.
