Sile Michaela: I admire your perseverance and tenacity. Here are a couple of thoughts that might offer a different perspective: 1/comedy clubs are the proving ground. If you can go into a club and consistently have great shows - sooner or later the comedy clubs will call you - quality always rises in a money-making business; 2/ at the same time it might make sense to take every show possible. STAGE TIME IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MONEY. so offering to work for free with a library, local service agencies (Kiwanis, Rotary Club, local city agencies having a luncheon…) or houses of worship gives you important stage time - making your act stronger and giving you perspective other acts don’t have. The more you work the better your act becomes and - this is the point:WORK = WORK. The more you work the higher your fee

1) I get paid up front; 2) I say this right at the beginning of unruly behavior: “ I respect young people. I like working for children, even if they are disrespectful. I would never be mean or abusive to children.” (Long beat as I look at the adults) “Adults however? If adults aren’t supportive and respectful I feel free to say and do whatever I think is deserved. So lock and load everyone! It’s gonna be awkward!” Works every time!
