Carrying the weight of everyone else’s needs while my own goes unnoticed and unaddressed. There’s this expectation that I’ll be strong but no one ever asks. They only ask when what I’m doing (or not doing) is getting in the way of what I need to do for them.

@Emanuel Spence you will never miss out on what God intends for you! It’s just not possible. Decide for yourself that you are worth loving, because you are. Anything less is a trick of the enemy. Don’t buy into it!!!

@Emanuel Spence I’ve been in business and leadership for a long time and here’s what I can tell you. Most people overthink networking. It’s not as challenging as it may seem. I am an introvert as well but here’s my strategy. Find people in the room that look interesting to you. Do you like their hair, their shoes, do they have interesting features, and then get curious. People love to talk about themselves and their interests. So I might say, “oh I love your tat. It looks very interesting. Is there a meaning behind it? How long did that take? Did you get that done nearby? I’d love to get the contact info for your artist.” Then f/u with a follow on social media. DM and say, “it was great talking to you at X event. I’ll be sure to let your tattoo artist know you referred me.” That way they remember who you are. This strategy works no matter where you are. Just find a topic that is appropriate for the setting. If it’s a business event, and the crowd is more of a professional crowd, afterwards I’m gonna hit them up on LinkedIn instead. Voila, you’ve just networked!

Oh what a thought provoking question for a Thursday! With some small tweaks, I do think I’m on the path to becoming who I want to become. Time management is what I need to work on. My plate is very full, so making sure I can fit everything in is what I need to work on the most.

Trust for me. Without it, it’s hard to build strong connections because you’re always questioning someone’s words or actions. I will respect a person that I trust but will never respect you if I don’t because that means to me that you’re not a person with integrity.
