Introduce Yourselves!
Welcome! My name is Shilo and I am so happy to build this community with you. I have been spinning for more than 15 years and learn much of what I know the hard way - on my own. My hope in bringing us together I can share what I have learned and help spinners elevate their skills. As a community, we have so much knowledge. Iāll get this started! š I taught myself to knit in early 2004. I didnāt start spinning until years later. Iāve probably been spinning for 13 years maybe? Shilo Weir actually taught me to spin š. Iām just starting to actively use my hand spun yarn instead of just letting it sit and look pretty! Spinning thinner is a challenge for me, Iād like to spin a 3-ply sock yarn but so far thatās escaped me!

@Shilo Weir @Ann Jensen definitely! Iāve spun husky fur though I did blend it with alpaca since there wasnāt enough to make the scarf for the dogās owner. A couple of things to remember: youāll need more than you think because, depending on the dog, once you remove the guard hair whatās left will vary; wash it well and then wash it a few more times! Dog fur can retain a lot of smells, especially if itās an older or sick dog. Donāt be afraid to blend it with another kind of fiber.
