iPad Notetaking
Does anyone use an iPad - I am wondering what is the best option for notetaking? We use AI but I also like to take some handwritten notes as well. If you've found any other helpful things with work productivity using the iPad - would love to hear!

Depends on how you like to take notes, but I really like Notability just for scratching out ideas, taking notes or drawing out things for clients. Can be screenshotted and then added to client file if needed but it doesn't transcribe it from my handwriting to text.
Email Retention for Compliance
What company/product do you use for email retention (compliance purposes) for an RIA that uses Microsoft 365 for Emails?

Have used both GlobalRelay and Smarsh
Who does your IT?
Hi -- we are a 4 person office atm, but growing. We are using godaddy for our M365 subscriptions. They are a hot mess when anything goes wrong - and we are interested in getting off their platform. This will involve defederating and then figuring out if we self manage subscriptions and storage/backup. I am debating between hiring a CSP or doing this myself. I've identified one CSP but would like alternatives to review and don't find any that seem reliable. Any recommendations or experiences to share?

I've worked with Havoc Defense, a small independent MSP that specializes in financial services and small-mid sized firms for several different RIAs and they were fantastic. Would be happy to chat about them more if you're interested

Schwab does a month-long paid sabbatical for every 5 years of service and have seen a number of RIAs started implementing the same policy within their own teams in recent years.
Vacation & Remote Policies
We are contemplating moving to an unlimited vacation policy as well as adding in a remote work component. Has anyone done this or have experience in it? Our Advisors operate this way now; however, the operations staff does not. The research says it's a positive for everyone. I would like to get real work information from someone. For example: a daughter/son is having a baby and the grandparent wants to either take time off or work remote. What things should we look at for policies? Does anyone have experience in this really working? Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you.

I think it honestly depends on the office and company culture and the relationships involved. Have helped implement this in some offices and seen it work really well and in other situations, have had to come in and help clean up a policy (or lack of clear policy) that went disastrously. It also depends on how well the ops staff and advisors communicate and trust one another. Happy to chat 1:1 but I think it's highly contingent on office and can go well if thoughtfully and clearly implemented.
