Sober & Free PODCAST, MY GUEST: Lynn Ellen Adams
In this episode, we hear Lynn's incredible story of the ups and downs of her family which essentially was broken apart by loneliness and living life on HARD. From a successful mom and & part-time business entrepreneur to a desperate and homeless drug addict, here is a woman with a fight and resilience in her that very few could predict. She is surprisingly steady and strong and built her life again from the ashes. I was riveted as I journeyed with her along a path strewn with parole hearings and heartbreak, Join me and Lynn as she finds Sobriety and Freedom! https://www.podbean.com/ep/pb-iazxv-186831f

Coffee time is in Eastern Time zone. This converter should help you figure out your time zone. https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20250410T110000&p1=179 She also has a calendar that shows which days are set to have coffee hour and which have the nighttime meeting (7pm EST). There are no meetings today.
Bracelets
Who needs a "KEEP GOING" Bracelet? Message me with your address and what color you like and I will send you one. If you need a few to pass out also let me know and I will send you a few. If you have no idea what a keep going bracelet is let me share my story with you: On May 8, 2023, I found myself at a crossroads. As a mom of four who had lost her way in addiction, I woke up that morning knowing something had to change. I didn't make some grand plan that day - I simply made one promise to myself: today, I would keep going. During those early days of recovery, I needed something to keep my hands busy and my mind focused. I started making bracelets - not because I was particularly crafty, but because it gave me purpose during the moments when cravings and doubt were strongest. Each knot I tied became a tiny victory, a moment of choosing hope over darkness. I wore that first bracelet everywhere, a simple reminder on my wrist that I just needed to keep going, one moment at a time. People started asking about it, curious about its meaning. So I made more. As I shared these bracelets, something unexpected happened - stories began to flow. Stories of struggle, of hope, of people just trying to keep going through their own battles. The turning point came after I had made hundreds of bracelets. A friend invited me to the Jennifer House for a support meeting, and I brought my bracelets to share. The women's faces lit up as they chose their bracelets. The following week, I was practically mobbed at the door by the same women - they were actually happy to see me. This was new for someone who wasn't used to people being excited about my presence. These women had shared the bracelets with friends in their outpatient groups, and more were requested. That's when I realized this was something bigger than just passing bracelets from one person to another - we were passing along hope, tangible reminders that we're never alone in our struggles. What started with one bracelet has grown into a movement that distributes over 300 bracelets monthly. But more importantly, we've built a community around these simple reminders to keep going - a place where people gather daily to support each other, share victories and challenges, and remind each other that all we need to do is keep going.

I don't suffer from addiction, I an ally, but my Keep Going bracelet has gotten me through a lot of hard moments in my own personal struggle with mental health. Thank you Lynn for making these bracelets available to everyone. xoxo
When Life Doesn't Go As Planned
Last week I lost my job for reasons beyond my control. It wasn't fair, and I was upset—but I didn't drink or use drugs over it. That's progress, not perfection! Years ago, this kind of setback would have sent me spiraling. Today, I'm learning to live life on life's terms. Sometimes things happen that we don't deserve or can't control, but we always have a choice in how we respond. My recovery journey has taught me that accepting reality—even when it's painful—is the first step toward peace. I'm not saying it's easy, but it's possible. Question for our community: How are you living life on life's terms today? Share a recent challenge and how you're facing it without turning to old coping mechanisms.

Evening Wind-down
Hey Keep Going family! I'm excited to announce we're expanding our support options! 🌟 Starting next week, we'll be adding an evening zoom session to our community - think of it as "Evening Wind-Down" to complement our Morning Coffee. I know many of you can't make our 7 AM sessions due to work schedules or time zones, so this is our way of making sure everyone can connect live with our community. Check the calendar section to find dates and times. They will vary from early evening to late evening, I want to be available for everyone. The format will be similar to morning coffee - a safe space to share, connect, and remind each other to keep going through whatever we're facing. Drop a comment below if you're interested, and let me know what evening times would work best for you! This is your community too, and I want to make sure it works for as many of us as possible. Keep Going, Lynn Ellen
