I was just doing some housekeeping of my wire wrapping supplies and came across a few specimens that I had forgotten about and I thought I’d share them with you all.

Gobi Agate feels like holding a piece of time that has been shaped by wind, sand, and stillness. These stones come out of the Gobi Desert already finished by nature, with soft edges, textured surfaces, and markings that almost look intentional. There’s a quiet steadiness to them. The kind that just holds its ground and lets everything else softly settle around it. 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 Gobi Agate is a variety of chalcedony, part of the quartz family, formed millions of years ago and later exposed and shaped by desert conditions. Composition: Silicon dioxide (SiO₂) Hardness: 6.5 – 7 Color: Earth tones, reds, browns, creams, tans, grays; sometimes banded or patterned Luster: Waxy to dull, often matte due to wind erosion Localities: Primarily the Gobi Desert (Gobi Desert) across Mongolia and northern China What makes these stand out is the natural surface texture. Many have pitted, dimpled, or “etched” appearances from sand abrasion, and some display “eye” patterns or natural banding. 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 & 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 Gobi Agate carries a grounded, ancient kind of presence. This is earth energy that has been weathered, shaped, and refined through long periods of exposure and change. There’s a stabilizing effect here, especially for those of us who feel pulled in too many directions or who spend a lot of time in thought, emotion, or energetic awareness.
