Been a crazy week with my parents declining fast. But i still managed to get 2 sessions done and I am submitting my second one. 8-25 11:02PM -11:32 Name your first three moves 1. Find a chord or melody progression 2. Find a kick hi hat and snare pattern 3. fill in/color the track I stalled, overthinking the second half of the loop and vocal placement (I wanted a different vibe to give a chorus-and-verse feel in 16 bars), but then I did what I do naturally (emotion placement and trying to create a moment they will remember) and felt where they should go.

Some of my first three moves actually changed between sessions. But I found myself consistently opening a template, looking for drums, then playing with keys. My stalls were in being confused in my DAW when trying to add midi tracks, practicing certain parts before recording, and deciding on which sounds/instruments I wanted to add.

So my process is: 1. Start with the kits that are my favorite. (I have them listed on my white board). The one I choose I stick with. 2. Create a melody with keys. ( I also have a selection of sounds that I always tend to go to). 3. I really had like an 10 minute window deciding drum pattern choices to create. I was trying different patterns, changing tempos to work with some patterns I thought of. 4. Was able to finish it in 28 minutes.

Enjoyed our session from last night. There were a whole lot of gems that was dropped! But the one that stuck with me is the nature aspect. Leaning into your strengths.. doing what you’re best at doing to the best of your ability. And to trust it!
