Ready to Make Money w/ Your Voice?
Some of you have asked about how to get started as a paid speaker. Tonight i breakdown how I am actually starting "over" practicing the same thing I teach you.

@Linnita Hosten I had to share this… so I went out to a happy hour last night. Wasn’t planned at all. I end up meeting a politician who is running for borough president. I happened to tell him that I help experts master their message and he says he needs help writing speeches. I said, I noticed that you often go over your time limit. I can help you fix that. I was half joking, half serious. We have a call on Monday to discuss offering comms support for his campaign. I feel like the God was listening to our conversation and put this opportunity in my path.

@Linnita Hosten thank you so much for the kind words. And yes, I will definitely take you up on the opportunity for our one on one call.
Tonight's Practice Seat
S/O to @Constance Jones for joining tonight's practice seat. We spent the first few minutes talking about how to use AI to prepare for your next engagement. Then we closed out with insight on how to become a paid speaker (thought leader). If you want to be paid to speak, i invite you to use this prompt in your AI tool of choice: I am a (insert the topic you speak on) speaker with (insert description of experience). I want to be paid (insert your desired fee). What steps can I immediately take to position myself as an authority in my lane? What conferences should be on my radar? What type of networking events should I participate in to build my credibility? Poll Question: Do you currently use AI to support your speaking needs?

I’ve used AI to help me outline workshops and it was super helpful. I co-sign the notion that you need to be specific so you can get a better outcome when I asked for icebreakers, I made sure that they were interactive for a small group of youths vs. a group of 50. It makes a difference!

I have a workshop on Sunday and I just used it to help me manage/curate the 60 minutes I have for a writing session with a group of 15 women. So, I 'm doing a 10 minute ice breaker, 30 minute writing, 10 minute share and 10 minute wrap up.

I do like to see it large and spread out like this. I have to learn the art of realizing how much time something will take, not so much with speaking but more for my done for you projects. I have one to complete and have decided that if I take on a done for your service, that I have to assign it to someone else to complete.

@Linnita Hosten Starting today, I am going to check the time on certain tasks. I also had my first in-person workshop for the year. It was an intimate event for a non-profit staff that I am consulting with; seven people and I was able to record myself.
Advice, please
Morning. Okay, so I am trying not to panic. 🫣 My sorority asked me to do a keynote for our local chapter's Kwanzaa presentation and they sent the run of show and they've allotted 35 minutes. This was not part of the original conversation, and I outlined for 15 minutes. The keynote is this Saturday. I think this 35 minutes is too long for a Kwanzaa luncheon for our scholarship awardees, ages 18-21. (Am I wrong?) They are attending with their parents, so there will be about 50 attendees. (But instead of spiraling and complaining, I just want to shift to accommodate this change.) Theme: Own the Journey: Discovering the Strength in Our Stories. I was already planning to make this interactive, but now it's like how do get the crowd back to focus after the interactive elements? I am concerned about losing the room. Thx, Taiia

@Linnita Hosten Thank you. The next time I will definitely work from an outline with key points or many stories and the transition phrases. #goals Because when I look back, I knew the material I just didn’t trust myself enough to flow the way that I needed to. This may sound silly, but I wonder if it had something to do with me needing to hold the mic versus a clip on clip-on mic/lav.
